Well, we're now down to roughly 30 games per team left in season 2, and much has been asked about the playoffs, rookie draft, common draft, etc. If you have any questions please try to go to the chat today about 2 or a little after... I should be there and hopefully some others will as well. Here is the current plan:

There will most likely be 6 more simming sessions before the end of the regular season. I will only go 6-8 per session for most likely 2 more times. After that, I will slow it back down to about 4 games per session, so all teams battling it out for playoff spots, positioning, etc. will have ample opportunity to make lineup changes, trades, etc. to try and make a charge. We will probably finish the regular season approx. 2 weeks from today (considering I'll be gone from the 15-18 it'll take a little more time).

After that, we will stop simming for a week, for a number of reasons. It will be like a week to scout, gear up for the playoffs, or next season. All teams will be allowed to trade, and for playoff teams, the trades will be allowed to count on their playoff rosters. This should give everyone one last chance to make a push this season. Finally, the week off will conclude on Wednesday June 27 with our own rookie draft. In the spirit of draft day, I think we should hold it on draft day itself at 3:00 p.m. BBS time (3.5 hours before the real draft). If you are unable to attend, email me with a list of players in order that you want for your pick-- otherwise you will be skipped. These players can be traded, but will not count on playoff rosters.

Now, for the playoffs. They should begin on the Thursday after the draft. I do have access to box scores for the playoff games, but because of time constraints and all the people in this league now, we won't be doing but a couple of the better games in the first round. For the first round we'll most likely do something like stats for 5 players per simming session. As the playoffs go on, we will go more in depth with more stats, features, box scores, etc.

Here is my current plan for the playoff simming.

Session 1: First two games of first round
Session 2: Last three games of first round
Session 3: First two games of second round
Session 4: Middle three games of second round
Session 5: Last two games of second round
Session 6: First two games of Conference Finals
Session 7: Middle three games of Conference Finals
Session 8: Last two games of Conference Finals
Session 9: First two games of NBA Finals
Session 10: Middle three games of NBA Finals
Session 11: Last two games of NBA Finals

I will be trying to do these every night, so don't worry about it dragging out too long. I know it's going somewhat slow, but the playoffs deserve more attention, and participants should be given every opportunity to adjust lineups, rotations, offenses and defenses, etc. depending on how a series is going.

After the playoffs end, we will then hold the two round common draft, have a week long preseason to check out rookies, new players, rotations, etc, and then season 3 will begin.

Everything sound good? If you have any questions, try and stop by at some point this afternoon in the chat.

One more thing I forgot to add above about the common draft-- it is at my discretion who can be added to the draft list, which is supposed to be two starters. The question recently has come up several times on "How many games does a player have to start to be eligible for the draft?" The answer is that there is no set number. There's not going to be ways to get around the rules so you can put in two of your lesser guys and not two starters. Now, in some cases, you can put someone in your top 6. A good example would be Nomar's team-- he started Fortson for a large portion of the season but had to bench him due to a trade for Antonio Davis. Because he is starter quality, and was a legitimate starter for a good portion of the season, I am allowing him to enter Fortson in the draft if he chooses. However, by that same token, I will not allow teams with circumstances such as Nomar's to put in both players from one position. For example, Nomar had Fortson starting at center for the first half of the year, and now has Davis for the second. He can put one of those in the draft, but not both. The players must be from different positions. If you've used a platooning system at a position where you vary who starts on a sim by sim basis (for example Raven with Snow and Tim Hardaway at the point) you can enter one of those players for the draft but not both. Just clearing that up for anyone who wanted to know.

I really like the idea of playoff teams trading after the season and it counting for the playoffs. That way, like P4 likes to say so often, teams can "mortgage the future for the present". Me thinks some DAMN interesting trades are going to go down, and I cant wait.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
