I sure hope that Marc Jackson's stats weren't a result of the team being totally awful, but actually a sense of where he stands. After all, his stats weren't nearly as good as Foyle's or even Dampier's for that matter. Why would the team be so reluctant to give him up? Could it be an attitude problem? Or did they just want plenty of room for Danny Fortson because they think he may play a full year for once? I also heard that he plays awful defense. One last thing to think about, why did Houston choose to sign him for the next 6 years? Where they that convinced that he was gonna be the man?
I don't agree with the decision to sign Jackson for 6 years. I was hoping for 1-3 or so....oh well. I guess in this case I am going to have to trust in the Rockets org. and their judgement of players.
Jackson: 48 games, 29.4 MPG, 13.2 PPG, 7.5 RPG, .71 SPG, 1.2 APG, .56 BPG, 46.7% FG%, 80.2% FT% Foyle: 58 games, 25.1 MPG, 5.9 PPG, 7 RPG, .53 SPG, .8 APG, 2.69 BPG, 41.6% FG%, 44.1% FT% Dampier: 43 games, 24.1 MPG, 7.4 PPG, 5.8 RPG, .4 SPG, 1.4 APG, 1.35 BPG, 40.1% FG%, 53.2% FT% Jackson is clearly best scorer, and equal to Foyle in rebounding. The biggest difference is FG%. Both Foyle and Dampier, who play CLOSE to the basket, have ridiculously low FG% for their type of game. Jackson's mark is above average for a person who displays the outside range he does. the free throw margin also prevents Hack-a-Mark. Note that Jackson makes half as much as Dampier, and less than Foyle. It was a gamble signing. If Jackson busts, he busts, and at the rate big men are going, it's bound to happen. If he pans out into a 13-8 type of player, we just got a RIDICULOUS bargain for him, consider your Evan Eschmeyer is getting almost the same, and Macculloch(sp?) and Booth are making 10 mil more over the same time frame.
I heard Jackson was staying with Cuttino, Steve and Marc are probably double teaming Cuttino, a little sandwich action if you know what I mean.
In seriousness, MJ is a great player that whose attitude I hope rubs off on Cato. This guy appreciates all that is given to him and has a desire to improve his game to be better. Cato is well... Cato.
Marc could be an Otis Thorpe type power forward, not needing to score but clearly capable if needed and left on double teams. Cato / Jackson would be valuable together against the bigger teams. With Rice at 6' 8" that's a big front line with excellent backcourt speed.
I think the reason the warriors don't want to give him up is because the organization realize that he is in fact a really good player capable of putting some serious numbers. An no I think a 6 year contract is a bad idea, yeah the guy can play but we don't know if he will fit with us. So a 1-3 year deal will be good.
HOUSTONE i`m still laughing dam that was funny.Serious tho I feel mj is going to work big time for us just to bad golden state won`t back away and go away.
I'm tired of it too, but it's a right to work state... I mean district, so LET HIM PLAY! What was the question again?
