I have a confession to make. I switched channels to watch Game of Thrones last night. I know, I am at times a weak fan. The temptation to watch a titillating fantasy show somehow over rode my fandom. I do apologize to everyone. The good news is that I have NBA league pass. So I could watch the fourth quarter and over time this morning. Would anyone here trade Harden for a person not named LeBron or Durant? I certainly would not. The guy just sticks a dagger in and twists it (GOT reference). From sixth man of the year to top three superstar in two years. How lucky are we as fans? To the thousands of posters on the "Asik is faking an injury" thread ... eat ****. The guy is a warrior. A supreme athlete and competitor. Perhaps the most valuable bench player in the NBA. Do not expect Morey to trade Asik, he is finishing out his contract in Houston. After which I hope D-Mo is prepared to at least partially assume his role. Asik is a top five center in the NBA. I loved the pressing defense displayed in the fourth quarter against Denver. It was, to say the least, effective. Heck, throw it out there for a couple of minutes in the second quarter in the playoffs. It certainly rattled Denver. Canaan is developing into a three point specialist in the NBA. He is neither big enough or fast enough to be a starter. However he will be invaluable off the bench for the Rockets for years to come. Morey is a genius. Howard and Bev will probably be back for the last 2-3 games of the season. The Rockets are firmly entrenched in the fourth seed. No need to hurry their return.
Don't throw in GOT spoiler references for people wanting to watch it still... lol (Yes I've read past where the show is, but for the sake of the watchers)
Nice thoughts overall Dwight Noah Gasol Big al B.lopez Bosh if considered a C Are all ahead of Asik in my book as offense out ways defence, but just purly on defence I would not argue his top 5 mark. be wary if clutch merges this with the game thread because I remember someone did the exact same thing last time surprisingly it was denvor aswell he made a thread about his thoughts on a game and it got merged, so just a heads up.
the best thing i saw last night was the defense when we were down 10+ with like 5 min to go.... if we could play defense like that even 50% of the time....man
Threatening clutch and the mods? I have just seen similar threads been merged, just imagine after every game if 10 threads were made anouther their thoughts instead of using the game thread. Not saying it has anything to do with you I have just seen what has happened
X2 on the GOT spoilers. I've got all season 3 to catch up on. -To piggy back on the Harden comment- Seriously, Harden is carving his way towards being the perennial 3rd best player in the NBA. He's only really some slight improvements on the Defensive end away from being there. How many players in the league can consistently put his team on their back in those types of moments? -On Asik- I have so much respect for the guy because of how he knows who he is and while most players would allow their offensive deficiencies mentally affect them on the defense/rebounding side of the ball, Asik almost thrives off of making up for the missing tip in's, and fumbles around the basket by proving his worth on the other end even more. I think most centers in the NBA are out of the league in 2 years because they allow the embarrassment of who he isn't on the offensive end to affect their focus on other parts of their game.
No. I admire Clutch. He is both as fair as he can be and a great analyst. But this thread is much more about an overall perspective of the Rockets current situation than the Denver game. And he has merged my threads before. No problems there.
Absolutely. Harden somehow is becoming the definition of clutch. And that is a rare thing around the NBA. How many games have the Rockets won this year because of Harden's clutch scoring? Asik. The guy is going to be in the NBA for the next decade earning $10M+. He depends on athleticism less than perhaps any other player in the NBA. His NBA IQ and instincts are obviously off the charts. And he is a BIG man.
Oh I was definitely watching GoT as well my friend! But I was watching the rest of the game on my iPad and let's just say at the end of that 4th qtr my attention was turning mainly towards my iPad, haha
Asik did fake his injury - but once the deadline passed, he went back to work. Glad he is here, but hope he is traded this summer. Was GOT any good? DD
I didn't see the game yet ... you think Isaiah Canaan has slow feet ? Maybe when he adjusts in the pace of NBA, he will get better ?
Seriously. It kind of reminded me of NCAA defense lol. Trapping at the half court line and constant ball hounding. If we can do that in the playoffs we will be extremely tough to beat. The urgency on D last night towards the end of the game was amazing to see.
GOT was well, unbelievable. That good. We have a difference of opinion about Asik and his injury. I doubt that either of us will know for sure. Best to you DD.
Asik does the dirty unexciting things very well. But I'll admit, after watching DH this whole season it's tough for me to watch Asik on offense at times. The clumsy dropped passes, missed layups, no lift whatsoever... It can be infuriating. But that steal he had on the inbound pass to Faried was something special. When that happened I remember thinking that they could really do it. And they did. I'm really looking forward to the DH and Asik anchoring this team in the playoffs. They're going to be trouble for the rest of the West.
Perfect! How often in the NBA do we see a 7 foot 275 pound center making a steal and dribbling it down the floor for a stuff? That was amazing.
Canaan, compared to starting NBA point guards is not fast. Unless he is in a mismatch he is not getting to the rim. And when he does he currently cannot finish. That being said Canaan has a great future off the bench as a back up point guard and a three point shooting wizard. A midget Korver?
