Great article. Tons of interesting stuff. I don't have time now, But I'll translate one tibit. In one training session, Wilk was suppose to guard SF. However, Wilks wasn't going all out against SF. JVG got mad, he threw his board down the floor, shouting:"Look, Do it like me." Then he rushed on to the court like a mad dog, grab the ball right of of SF's hand before he could even realize what happened. From then on, the Rockets training sessions worked great. Everyone paid attention.
Better not do it. There are just too much INSIDE info. In summary: 1. SF and CAT are having a lot of problem with the coach like we always suspect. They even tried to get JVG fired, but it did not work. 2. JVG has made up his mind to trade some players in the offseason. 3. JVG is very, very strict. He does not have any friend on the team. 4. JVG hates Knicks so much that he only smiled when we beat them twice. The only other thing that he smiles at is COKE.
No disrespect to original poster, it seems the chinese media is not considered here as reliable or creditable source of rockets information, especially the controversial one. Sometimes I feel like is it really worth to translate the articles here? I know u all do it in goodwill but if the recipients do not appreciate it, isnt it counter-productive? This board has already full of hatred. Just my little opinion here.
I was wondering about how many of the juiciest inside gossip comes out the Chinese media. I take it journalistic standards aren't as high in the PRC as they are here and do they ever say where they got that info from?
I always appreciate the translations. Even if at times I'm skeptical, it's still fun to read the juicy gossip. It's like the Rockets very own "Star" magazine. The New York Times? No. But some tacky color pages that gives the team spice.
Please don't put up those taste added news from those so-called Yao's friend here. They just want to write whatever tiny things they have observed and wrap them up with a lot of imaginations of their own. They only do so to caught attention, to make them known as insiders in China and promote themselves as better reporters. BTW, I read Chinese news all the time and I think I know this kind of stuff.

Well, some locker room stuff. I am pretty sure this kind of stuff happens to every team. Here in L.A, the situation is much more complicated. Things dont look good in Sac town. So no big deal. One question about the article's creditbility. How on earth the writer could know SF and Cat, alledgely with some high-up guys in the Rox management, conspired to get rid of the Coach? If its only a rumor or spetculation, this stuff shouldnt be on paper. The article pretty much can be summed up by one word "garbage".
of course, there will always be detractors, nonbelievers, etc., that are critical of anything they read that does not support their beliefs and would rather discredit people or encourage the suppression of information; however i believe the majority of us deeply appreciate the translation work that many of our asian posters have done and would like to see more of it in the future - this thread notwithstanding. if you don't believe it or disagree with it, fine. but, imo, too many people would sooner suppress information than spread it in its entirety (context included if possible) and trust people to use their own common sense to determine the validity of the information. case in point - Yang Yi. while i don't believe he is the "beacon of excellence in journalism", i do believe he has a closer relationship with yao ming than just about any reporter living in the 48 contiguous states. biased? yes. baldfaced liar? no. i digress... whoever decides to translate the article, kudos. many of us enjoy the reading.... thank you in advance!
Oh, it said they had countless player only meeting. They discussed how JVG will never get bored at kicking their ass all the time. And the conclusion is 'F*ck him about his ass kicking. We just play our games.' Now, if you believe the reporter can get his hands on some player only meetings, then you can believe that article. But they do has some Chinese reporters delegated to follow Yao around there at the States.
I think this is an interesting article with lots of nice information. The quote by Yao is interesting where he indicates that he is not ready to carry the team while JVG basically asks him to do that.
all i know is that i know about the details of meetings that have occurred between the owners of the company i work for. information regarding millions of dollars and practices that are definitely in the legal "gray area". i never set foot in the actual room, but i definitely know some of what was said. point being, private meetings do not, inherently, mean that the information will be held in strict confidence. this is especially true when dealing with 20-30 year old kids with huge egos and lots of cash. not saying that this is gospel truth, but definitely in the realm of possibilities, and imo, has a good chance of being truthful, at least to some degree.
Personally I really never believe a hundred percent of any major media outlets, Chinese or American (manufacturing consent by Noam Chomsky scarred me for life), but I find the Chinese media a lot more entertaining. Just my two cents.
I understand many fans here appreciate the effort. On the other hand, I also got the impression that some people here think we chinese fans (also mostly labeled as YOF) use the articles to attack players other than Yao. In return, they would somehow try every way to attack yao or discredit YOF. Then we have to defend or even counter-attack. Finally this board is full of hatred posts. I am just sharing my thought here and of course I am nobody to stop anyone trying to translate the articles.
First of all, tom.com is based on Hongkong, owned privately by a Hongkong tycoon. It has nothing to do with the government controlled media. Second, you cannot get any worse than America media here anyway. I thought China media was bad before I came to the States, but after lived in this country for more than 15 years, I can tell you that America media is just as bad, if not worse! Finally, no one said you have to believe everything it says. If you don't like it, just don't read it.
