Biden called for these additional inspections in his State of the Union speech two years ago. And now that they're here, Republicans are refusing to install them. This is another "crisis" where one side is actually trying to govern to make it better, while the other side yells and complains about it while actively refusing to make it better.
ICE holds aren't as common as they used to be but at least they are still in the toolbox. I will give Joe credit for that and RIP to the fallen officer.
I’m listening to Mike Johnson and he’s repeating the falsehood that the President under section 212 can just shut down the border. As has been noted even in this thread Trump was blocked by the USSC from Using section 212 in that way. He’s also blaming Biden for attaching Ukraine aid to a border security bill when he himself said he wouldn’t pass Ukraine aid without border issues being addressed.
Also GOP members are wearing white ribbons to the SOTU for “Angel Families”, families who have lost people to crimes committed by illegal Aliens. Wonder why they weren’t doing so when Trump was president even though there were murders committed by illegal aliens then too.
... and, as immigration and border security is "the most important issue facing America" according to republicans, speaker johnson and his maga republican house members propose huge cuts in enforcement?
