I've read interviews of small flyover towns where Mexican immigrants "take over" a sizable chunk of the city. Those towns were usually bleeding a slow death from a mid-large size corporation (car parts, coal, rail, etc...) moving away. Nativists will grudgingly admit them breathing life back into a town where their kids have long moved elsewhere for better opportunities, but they can't shake the feeling that it isn't "their town" anymore. Over time many immigrants do integrate with the norms while adding their culture to the melting pot, but that feeling remains. Then you have Fox News talking heads rambling about "California being overrun", which fuels fears that those small towns will turn out the same (it won't). I wouldn't say all their fears are unjustified. Calling it racism or white supremacist is too simple and doesn't entirely fit. Folks moved to small towns to avoid rapid changes happening in large cities. Large demo shifts in cities can be jarring to me as well. Nativism is a mindset that as human as sticking to a political ideology. What is wrong is when people aren't honest with those fears by secretly opposing all immigration. Hopefully by understanding where the sides are rooted, some middle ground can be achieved before a numbnut (literally?) border state governor causes a civil war by overriding government authority.
Border security is so important... trump babbles something about the Texas governor becoming the senate minority leader. Which would involve wheels to become a senator. Replacing either cornyn or cancun cruz.
At this point trump's dementia kicked further in... starts babbling about people and foreign languages.
wheels claims President Biden isn't at the border (Biden is in Brownsville) because the President isn't where wheels has placed razor wire... a 24 miles stretch of 1,254 milelong border between Texas and Mexico.

The first time I went to Worthington, MN was in 2004. Worthington is a town in SW MN near both IA and SD. It is heavily dependent on agriculture. When I stopped there it was overwhelmingly white and mainstreet had businesses with Scandinavian and German names. Also many empty storefronts. When I stopped by there a couple of years ago Main Street had several business with Spanish sounding names. I stopped in a taqueria there that was playing Tejano music and everyone there was speaking Spanish. What happened with places like Worthington is that the white population has been declining with many of the people that grew up there 30 years ago moving out to places like the Twin Cities metro area. What’s filling in are primarily immigrants from Latin America and in the upper Midwest Somalia. Most of these people are working in agriculture and food processing. Without this new influx of population Worthington probably wouldn’t survive nor would the farms and meat packing plants in the areas.
