Today, it's infinity. This is an emergency trigger of some sort, a threshold where the US believes it cannot handle any more. Frankly, it should be set very high. If you set this too low, you are indeed risking the lives of true asylum seekers. To me, this number shouldn't be hard-coded but left up to the administration to decide, with guidance from Congress and approval from immigration judge. In other words, let's be a bit more dynamic in response to the actual situation. If there's some crazy guy in Mexico killing all Christians, the US should do what it can to save them. But whatever the implementation and agreed upon proposal, it shouldn't simply be infinity.
Are you contending that the former President would have allowed more crossings than the current president?
Difference between me and you is I look at factual data and not braindead tweets. It's a mere fact that trump allowed a higher percentage of applicants into the country than Biden. The number one issue is the government releases "encounters" instead of approvals and this ****s up everyone's brain. Folks assume that encounters=approvals
But every video you post shows footage of them being on us soil. The Texas fencing is on us federal land which is why DHS had to remove it so they can screen them then deport them. Again the number 1 issue is CBP does not have a way to deport people before they write their names. The way to fix this is to pass legislation which is what the admin is proposing
The proposed deal in senate also greatly enhances requirements for someone to be eligible for asylum. The applicant must have physical evidence of a threat instead of the vague bs that's in place now. Folks have said this would cut the applicants eligible by 80% While @Astrodome is stuck on the 5k number he glances over the requirements needed for asylum have been greatly enhanced
Bcz then you can't deport the people on the ground. If migrants are stuck on Texas soil then that makes it a national security danger. You have to process them and deport them. You can't have people lingering on us soil who the government doesn't know who they are. Again the fix to all of this is to give CBP expedited deportation authority which the senate deal does
Looks like real Republicans @Astrodome are pissed cuz they know this is the most right wing immigration bill in modern history
republicans have no desire to solve the border problem but rather try to use it to elect trump... they literally are telling you this.
I wish everyone would stopping looking for a win and worry about Americans........................hell, if the right wants to say they won, great but do your dam job and do what the elected people sent you to do...................fix **** that's broken and has been broken forever. for trump to want the right to delay it so he can fix it is the most ridiculous thing I have heard today and hell, I read a dozen of his tweets so that's saying something.
If the fence is right at the border and they never make it onto US soil, you don't need to deport them.
The fence that you showed a video of is deep in the us side of the border. Wtf are you talking about? Its not even close Yeah yeah always easy to grift like a dipshit when youre not in power. How exactly is he going to end the "humanitarian crisis" while at same time fixing the issue. Grfiters will always be grifters
