I've posted this on another thread but didn't get any of your thoughts. Now that it's been established that Griffin will play the 4, shouldn't the Rockets consider trading Kenny Thomas for a future draft pick allowing Eddie to back up Mo T and freeing up extra money to resign Hakeem? Seems to me like that would be killing two birds with one stone. Thoughts?

why not just don't even worry about mo t,let eddie start at the 4,langhi at the 3,thomas backs up eddie and even cato backs up the 4,resign mooch.give hakeem his 2yrs 6 mil/per,resign bull, and let the other guys go.in 2 yrs hakeem will go sign and trade cato and someone else for the free agent duncan and the trophies will start to come.show me another team that can bolter as much talent as cat, franchise, duncan, griffin, and langhi/morris.thats the lineup i will sacrifice these 2 yrs for.i think whats really eating hakeem is seeing a stiff like cato making more than him.there are casualities in war and taylor, and anderson might become those to bring back hakeem and be able to sign duncan in 2 yrs.

I think we need Hakeem he shoots that fadeaway shot that no one can block remember that time Dudley tried to block it but he couldn't that was funny I like Mo too he can hit jumpers and Moochie has a fro that looks cool if we can sign all those guys we will have a good team and why don't we trade Cato and Walt for a time machine that way we can go back in time and trade for Bill Russell in his prime and he would be the defensive stopper to replace Hakeem in case he does leave

Guys, for the love of aspirin, please take a deep breath in between sentences and mix in some proper punctuation.

If we do end up with a time machine, could we trade that for hakeem in his prime? Then we could use current hakeem as a backup.

I don't know why anyone would think Eddie will play 4. All indications are he will start at the 3 and on occasion slide to the 4. Mo will start at 4 with KT being the primary backup. The unkown question will be the rotation at 2 and 3. We have Mobley, Griffin, Anderson, Langhi, Morris, and maybe Bullard in the rotation at those two positions.

EGriff said he would be playing 4 in his interview. He's a back to the basket, interior rebounder/shotblocker kind of guy anyway. Just needs to gain a little weight.

There is no way the Eddie Griffin will start for the Rockets at SF to open the season. He is not ready.

Shandon Anderson is not being resigned for more money so he can sit around and watch the kids play.

With the reality that we will probably not pay Anderson his mulit-year, 4-5 million price demand, as a future bench player, WHO DO YOU THINK WILL GET THE STARTING JOB OVER GRIFFIN?

I think that Rudy needs to do the same grooming with EG, as he did with Francis. Francis took the starting role from Cuttino at PG. Who is to say that Cuttino did not deserve it? Francis could of easily got the same playing time off the bench. But by giving him the starting job, he felt like a NBA star from day one. Griffin needs that same motivational push.

Look at Jonathan Bender, he was traded for Antonio Davis, and was suppose to have a major impact in the NBA. He gets to the pacers, and Larry Bird's rule is that rookies dont get played in his rotation. Now, a few years later, Bender has yet to develop into a NBA player. When a player goes from being a High School or College star to being a bench player, it affects there confidence.

If Grifffin does not get the starting spot, he will definately get starting minutes off the bench!!!! If we saw the same ESPN2 game, then we would be crazy not to play Griffin big minutes. He blocked, he rebounded, he faced the basket and posted up and nailed his shots.

He did not shoot particularly well.

He did not guard smaller players well on the perimeter.

He did not guard big players well inside (ex. Zach Randolph whipped Eddie's tail).

He got pushed around fairly easily.

I see Eddie getting 10-20 minutes a night for the first quarter of the season. I think Eddie will improve and be a great player, but give him time- he is very young!

Is anybody going to answer my question? Enough debate over what he'll play, he said it himself that he'll be playing the 4. Whether or not he starts, we'll have 3 players at one position, what happens to KT?

Sorry kubli...but where and how much Griffin will play is part of the answer.

Personally, even if Griffin logs most of his minutes at the 4 spot, I wouldn't mind keeping KT for the depth, especially since Mo wasn't exactly an iron man last year.

If, however, KT could be packaged for a 4-5 type guy like Brad Miller or someone along those lines, I'd definitely trade him. KT is a spot player in this league, and probably won't amount to much more.

I think KT is very valuable to the Rockets as a 3 or 4. I also think KT is better than Croshere, and alot cheaper.

Hopefully we'll start the same exact lineup as last year, I mean let's get some god damn consistency going here.
    Dream/Mo/SA/Cat/Franchise.
That's a good solid lineup and with a bench consisting of Eddie/Walt/Langhi/Morris/Cato/Kenny/Mooch
We'd have a preety damn deep bench.
    CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY (imho)

KT is the type of role player everyone needs. He is by no means a great player but he plays with heart, doesn't ask for touches, and is for the most part an effective PF.
But to answer your question, Griff will be a SF this 1st year. I really don't know if he will start or not. I tend to think if we could find a decent SF (or if Walt can come out with a hot hand) that Griff would have less pressure coming off the bench and could be the spark plug that we have needed there since Cat moved into the starting 5. But it would be a different kind of spark, a defensive/shot blocking one.
Griff will get 20-25 minutes a game but I think especially in the beginning of the year that we need to move him along slowly. Don't ask him to do too much. Just let him learn by watching and by playing what it is like to play in the NBA.

Kenny Thomas was a first round draft pick, he is a proven commodity, he is a change of pace at the 4, he is great insurance in case of injury, he is valuable as a practice player, his contract is relativly cheap. I would never trade him for future draft picks, how many of those end up as total busts?
I would however trade him in a package for a credible upgrade at the 5.
By the way Rodney , what did happen to you?

Rodney McCray -- Please tell me how many summer games you watched in order to come up with your conclusions about Eddie. I saw only one, the Jazz game, but it was obvious that Eddie was the best all-around player on the floor in that game. He was hitting shots from all over the floor and active defensively.

I'm all for bringing back Shandon but I don't think we should start him at SF again. He's a 2 guard and I think his playing out of position led to his subpar year. He should be a backup 2 and we should start a more true SF, Dan Langhi perhaps.
