You're 100% right. My 2nd favorite NFL team is whoever is playing the cowboys. However, I don't spend my money going to root against them and this situation is different. Mr. Clutch is going to be surrounded by people who are a million times more passionate about their team than the most passionate cowboys fan. If he's goign to root against the Mexican team in a very pro-Mexican crowd of 70,000, he should be ready for whatever might happen.

If anything, go to the game to see a great match. This should be a good game and you should always be happy about getting to see a good international match in Houston.

Nope, I don't cheer for neither Dallas (OMFG, i will never.) or the other team. I will just watch the game.
    No.
    Nope.
It might be YOUR nature, but not mine
Well... this last one can be lumped up with anything from DUCKING FALLAS. I will tell you, though, national teams and just regular league teams are different... and I won't pay anything just to see another team lose like Mr. Clutch is thinking.

EDIT:  just what I was thinking, leroy420... just go enjoy the game and hate no one, you know? :(

I am actually going because my cousin is in town and he wants to go. Sometimes I think you and Swoly-D want me to get hurt, and that saddens me. :( I thought the connection between Clutchfans extended beyond the Internet.

My CLUTCHFAN BROTHER... haven't you read my post? :( I said I didn't want you to get hurt. We've been trying to tell you that you will get hurt, and you keep on saying that "Mexicans... classless this... cheer against them that..." blah blah... :(

"But if he ever... EVER messes with the Mexican team in a stadium filled with angry MEXICANS... you pray for him, brother... PRAY FOR HIM."

You can still get tickets from ticketmaster (at least you could an hour ago when I checked), if it does sell out it won't be until game time when the walk up crowd gets there.

    You can buy mine.

I'm seriously considering selling them because I am concerned for my own safety.

What the hell are you talking about? Please show me where I said I wanted you to get hurt. No one is asking for you to get injured. All I said was that if you're going to the game and are going to loudly cheer against Mexico in front of what will be 70,000 Mexican fans, you need to be prepared.

    Get over yourself.

C'mon guys, it's the freaking Gold Cup for crying out loud, it means nothing! I understand the U.S. vs Mexico game is a big deal but they're not playing each other.

Dude, if you go to this game to blatently chear for Panama and act a fool even though you have no ties to them, I guarantee something bad will happen but that does not mean anyone of us wish you harm. That would be all on yourself for acting that way.

So if a girl wears a short skirt she deserves to get raped?

Since I will have a few beers because my cousin is driving, I cannot really be sure how I am going to act.

If you're just cheering I doubt anything serious would happen. If you're taunting people around you hurling insults then bad things could happen.

Will it help if I wear a Panama shirt? That way they think I'm cheering FOR Panama instead of AGAINST Mexico (even though I won't be).

Not even close to the same thing.

If you can't be sure how you'll act after a few beers, I would suggest not drinking. That will only get you into more trouble and make you seem even more stupid.

What has the world come to when you cant have a few beers and act stupid at a sporting event? Ive seen opposing fans act dumb at Texans and Rockets games, and they dont get assaulted by angry mobs of hooligans.

No wonder Americans dont like soccer. You get attacked-PHYSICALLY- just for having fun at games.

I would definately risk life and limb to root for the US team against Mexico in Houston...LA or even in Mexico.

Risking life and limb to root for Panama...not so much.

There is a difference of acting stupid and having a good time. It seems like you know yourself real good and probably cant handle the alcohol very well. Ive met some really nice folks on this board and man I would hate for you to go and get your butt kicked for talking trash while drunk. Just go and have a good time man. Im American and love soccer.

    Quick story:
I took SwolyD to a Rockets game once (six rows up, center court) and he had a few and was talking trash but having a good time. He wasnt against the Rockets though. Good times.

Why would you go to a sporting event just to cheer against a team? I think that's all what this argument is really about. If I don't like a team I avoid them. You seem to be doing the opposite, and that's what I find confusing.

I say do what you want and have fun. You can easily avoid conflict, but you can't predict how drunk Mexicans are gonna act towards you.

Well I am going because my cousin is in town and he wants to go. Otherwise I wouldn't go.

And it's going to be hard to just sit there all quiet when I am used to cheering at games.

Well we'll see. Hopefully I am alive tomorrow.

If Mexico loses or ties tonight, there will be a US-Mexico QF. Unless both Honduras and Mexico lose, in that case Mexico would be out. I couldn't dream of a better scenario.
