Thierry Henry's parents are from Guadalupe and 4 or 5 other France national team players have ties to there. When I first heard they were going to be in the cup I wasn't too happy, but now I'm glad they made it.
Check out this crazy goal during the Sweden vs Iceland match: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Sg6g3iW5dcc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Sg6g3iW5dcc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Wilhelmus RIJSBERGEN is doing a good job with the TRINIDAD team. Too bad El Salvador pulled out the win at the last minute. What's with Trinidad hiring only DUTCH coaches? Anyway, I need to find the video of Silvio's beautiful score last night against El Salvador. Did anyone see that ?
Mexico didnt play well, they have to improve if they want to win, they need a lot of teamwork. adolfo Bautista palyed awful, I dont like him.
I'm glad Ching got some minutes and played well yesterday, he really should have done better on a couple of those 1v1 with the keeper though. What happened to Mexico? They should have been able to go through the group stage undefeated. I bet Hugo Sanchez is going to be taking some heat after today's game. But seeing the Honduran player trying to kiss Blanco was hilarious, defenders should start doing that to him more often.
Don't know, DrL. "Honduras was who we thought they were." "PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS!?!?!?!?! You talkin' bout playoffs? We just hope to WIN a game... " - Hugo Sanchez. Damn you, Cuauhtemoc Blanco's attitude. He should do that when they're not looking at him. Still, good strategy by Hondurian defender to get into his head. Dude. There's no excuses. We got Eruopean team players in there... Marquez is missing... Guardado isn't playing the way he's supposed to... I don't know what TORRADO and Ramon Campos are still doing in there... . I don't know what's wrong with my team. Ya'll can stop laughing now.
Onstead just took a good shot to the head by a player from Haiti (Canada up 2-0 in 2T). Hopefully, for us Dynamo fans, it's nothing. Canada is looking more an more like a team that can seriously compete for a spot in 2010.
Update time. Canada won Group A thanks to Dynamo players De Rosario and Pat Onstad, some other guys helped too, but they're not really important. Costa Rica will definitely be playing in Houston on Sunday, the opponent will be determined tomorrow. USA takes on El Salvador today at 6, it will be shown on FSC and Telefutura.
Wonder what kind of starting 11 they'll go with. Will they give the regulars a break again or go with a full strength squad?
I've been wondering about that myself. Mastroeni is back from suspension so I think he'll play DMid, but there's no telling who else will be playing. He may try mixing the lineups from the first two games to see how well players do with one another.
Here's the starting XI for the US: Howard Spector Onyewu Parkhurst Bornstein Mastroeni Bradley Feilhaber Beasley Donovan Dempsey
Linup announced 4-5-1 - What a great idea. Before the tournament they kept saying that we'd be using our "A" team, and while I don't dislike Benny and Bradley I don't think they're quite "A" team material yet. --------------Dempsey---------- ----Beas--------------------LD--- ----Benny-----Mastro------Bradley Bornstein-Parkhurst--Gooch-Spector ---------------Timmy--------------
2-0 US in the 70th minute. I really like Benny Feilhaber, the guy is really creative and has played some great balls forward so far this tournament. Playing in Germany is only going to help the defensive side of his game, he could turn out to be a really good two way center mid.
