I have the worst soar throat ever. It literally hurts every time I swallow (insert joke here). I'm not running a cold or fever it's just the throat. It hurts to talk and it hurts to open my mouth even. Has anybody ever experienced anything like this? What the hecks going on? Any remedies?

dude, i experienced it this morning....had to call in

i tried everything from lozegens to throat spray and didnt work. I tried theraflu a couple hours later and it freaking worked. I can swallow with minimal pain. at first i thought it couldve been strep because i didnt have any other symptoms and it hurt worse than a sore throat.

give it a shot. i feel so much better.

EmergenC 3 times a day or at least get some 1000mg C pills and take 3x.

The moment you suspect you are coming down with something, start hitting the C like a dope fiend. I can't tell you how many colds I've fought off ...but only if you catch it early. You are too late this time.

This time, gargle with warm salt water.

Often your throat gets sore because of a runny sinus draining down your throat and/or cause you to breath with your mouth open at night. So take Claritin or something.

Tea with honey will sooth your throat.

    Oh and lots of fluids.

I think just a little bit of sperm may do the trick.

I started with a sore throat the other day, and now its full blown, I feel like a turd. Sore throat, runny nose, bad sneezing, headache, and just all around I feel like Mr. Hanky the Christmas poo. Anyone wanna donate some z-packs? It seems like the only thing that helps me when i'm sick. AWWWWW.

I started a new job a month ago and don't have insurance for another 2 months. Man I'm dying for some Z-paks as well. That stuff is amazing.

A lot of people have tried and swear that EmergenC works, but it's just 1667mg of vitamin C. All vitamins do not go through the same rigorous testing as the Rx drugs, so it's not proven to be effective in "preventing" or in cold relief. It is water-soluble, so it won't hurt to try. However, I wouldn't recommend doing this.

If you're throat hurts, you want to 1) soothe the area, 2) get pain relief, 3) "prevent" fever, and 4) hydrate adequately.

    1) Use an anesthetic for local relief. Lozenges or sprays that contain benzocaine +/ menthol would be good. Chloraseptic make a few types of remedies.

2 and 3) Tylenol: This would ease some of the pain (same pain receptors throughout the body) and help you in case you do have fever in the future. It is also "safer" than any of the aspirin/NSAID products.

    4) Gatorade or water

You may have something more than a "sore throat". If you do some OTC stuff and it doesn't go away in a day or two, then you'd probably need to see a doctor for possible strep throat. Then you'd need an antibiotic such as a z-pak. If it's not an infection, just some otc would be good enough.

I thought I had the Flu this week, turns out it was Bronchitis. This crap is horrible! Stared Saturday after spending all night out on the patio in Clear Lake of some bar I don't even remember the name of. Christmas parties and liquor tend to make me forget things.

The the chills, hot sweats, fever, runny nose that I blew so much it turned my nostrils into blood sacks, coughing so hard it felt like I was exhaling nuclear bombs, soreness all over from sneezing and coughing so much...

Now I just have the horrible cough, and the leakage from the anus has started, and it burns something awful. Awesome.

I WANT SOME BEER BUT STOMACH CANNOT ISSUE!

Once I started the Mucinex (Could they make this pill any bigger?) and Afrin I felt a little bit better...mix that with Dayquil and it feels as if you're on speed. It's the only thing that got me through work, although I missed Christmas this year. Suxorz.

Was the bar you went to called Sherlock's? I live in CL also. Anyway, just make sure you don't use the Afrin for more than 3 days...you'll get rebound nasal congestion.

No, it was some bar, had to walk upstairs behind a restaurant or something, dirt parking lot, big purple sign with a LOUD live band. I was kinda buzzed and all I remember was looking down off the deck into the water and seeing the Turtle club below us. That was right before I did the typical holiday Christmas party thing and had the fling with a co-worker and pretty much ruined the relationship I'm in and made work really awkward. Edit- It was Club Classic. Had to text my brother. I don't even remember half that night.

I'm being punished. I already know this.

Oh, and I quit the Afrin after day two. It worked, but I've heard some bad stuff about it so it's now put away. Feeling slightly better today anyways.
