I delayed a bit before posting this, because I feel silly doing it... but it felt weird not doing it, when I've made so many references to my fiancee in prior posts. Anyway, Jennifer and I were married December 27th (don't ever, ever attempt a wedding so close to a holiday) in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a big, white, Catholic affair, with the rehearsal dinner, reception complete with DJ, etc... a bit too big for my taste, but seeing how much she enjoyed it made it all worth the hassle. And I was delighted in a way I didn't expect, since our engagement was so long. I thought I was fully prepared, but there's something about actually making the vows that affects you, even if you're not religious. At the reception, I was made to dance the YMCA with the other men in the bridal party, never managed to eat more than a bite of cake, was asked by countless in-laws when the children are coming (she has 18 uncles and aunts! ), and pestered by roving bands of pre-teens. The reception center even hijacked us with a shock $1,000 fee that hadn't been mentioned before (little did they know we're both law students!). Straight out of father of the bride, or something... But I'm married now to the most intelligent, funny, kind, beautiful and generally fabulous woman in the world .
Congratulations, haven. But...a Rockets fan getting married in/near the home of the *ugh* Jazz? Where are your priorities? That'll haunt you forever! Shoulda told Jennifer, Look: I love you; but I really love the Rockets; don't step 'tween me and my first love, knowwhatI'msayin? There ain't gonna be none of this SLC crap. I'm sure she would have understood.
subtomic: Yeah, which meant only 6 of my relatives and my 3 closeste friends showed up. The church was hilarious... there were 2 very, very sparsley populated rows on my side of the aisle, and a packed crowd of about 120 on her side. Oh well . We live in Austin, so I guess it's only fair...
good point...i'm not sure that any states other than arkansas and alabama actually recognize marriages in utah!
moestavern: You will never believe how pleased she was when I stepped down as sim baseball commish. I think our time together probably tripled, or something. I didn't realize how much time that league took until I had so much free time after it was over... guess that means it was fun, at least, since I didn't notice!
Since you got married in Utah, does that mean it's legal for you to have other wives too? Anyway, congrats and happy homecoming to you.
Damn haven, you should have known better. Do you know what the leading cause of divorce is? Marriage! j/k I love to hear about situations like these. Its always good to have that other person there to share things with in life. Though I can not imagine what the arguments will be like with 2 people in law! That could be a pay per view exent to help pay for that wedding.
