sun-sentinel.com/sports/basketball/heat/sfl-flspheatnote14sbdec14,0,4947820.story South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com Parker on the way out Sources say Heat will try to trade ill-fitting guard By Ira Winderman Smush Parker apparently has played his last game for the Heat. Two sources familiar with the situation said Thursday the Heat is searching for trade options for the troubled point guard, who is eligible to be dealt starting Saturday. Parker has been isolated from the team since a run-in with a valet-parking attendant last month. For now, the Heat is listing Parker as inactive due to conditioning concerns. However, word is there is an agreement with agent Billy Ceisler to deal Parker as soon as possible. Ceisler would not confirm such talks. "Obviously I work on Smush's behalf, and I want the best thing for my client," he said. "If it's finding a new home, then that's what I want. "We've spoken about trying to get back to some sense of a good conclusion." Ceisler said a buyout has not been discussed. Players signed in the offseason can be dealt no earlier than Dec. 15. When Parker was signed in July to a two-year deal that included a player option for the second season, the former Lakers starter was hyped by the team as a challenger for Jason Williams' starting position. Instead, second-year guard Chris Quinn has emerged as a quality backup to Williams, with shooting guard Dwyane Wade also spending considerable time with ball-handling responsibilities. Even before the valet-parking incident, Parker had grown into an ill fit, both in adjusting to the team's on-court approach and the rigid off-court policies established by coach Pat Riley.
No No No! I live in LA and saw smush parker play all the times last year. That guy is literally a poor man version of Rafer Alston!
He needs to have a few sessions with John Lucus to get his attitude straightened out.He is very athletic from what I have seen from his you tube video highlights but his attitude seems to put a dark cloud over his potential.
this guy plays lazy defense, doesn't shoot as well as rafer did last year (from beyond the arc) had very few assists for a player playing w/ kobe and has an attitude problem. sound good to you?
Am I the only one amused at the fact that a guy named "Parker" had problems with a valet parking attendant? We should definitely trade for him. With Rafer and Smush, the Rockets will be the bane of the parking industry everywhere.
All I have to say is (with great amount pain, regret and...some hesitation)... I would rather have Rafer.
Obligatory.... Your post advocates a (X) trade ( ) FA signing ( ) draft ( ) personnel change ( ) game strategy change in order to solve the Rockets’ problems. Your idea will not work. Here is why it won’t work. (One or more of the following may apply to your particular idea, and it may have other flaws influenced by recent league rule changes). [X] It will create problems for us offensively [X] It will make our defense weaker [X] Team chemistry will be fractured as a result [ ] We can’t afford it [ ] The other team(s) would never agree to it [ ] The NBA would never allow it to happen [X] It would be unpopular with the fans [ ] Requires us to give up too much [ ] We already have enough talent/depth at that position [ ] That player would never agree to such a deal [ ] Our team owner would never pay for it [X] This does not help us in the long run Specifically, your plan fails to account for [ ] NBA league rules expressly prohibiting it [ ] Salary cap limitations [ ] Lack of depth/options on the trade/FA market at that position [X] Known limitations of our roster players [ ] Our team’s identity and game strategy [ ] Lack of rebounding [X] Lack of offensive production [X] Need for a true point guard [X] Lack of a dependable 3rd scoring option [X] Lack of defensive ability [ ] Lack of inside/low post presence [ ] Lack of perimeter shooting [ ] Loss of athleticism [X] Inconsistency in the production of player(s) involved [ ] History of injury problems [X] Poor leadership qualities [ ] Depletion of youth on the roster [ ] Lack of league/playoff experience [X] Attitude and personality problems with player(s) involved [ ] The need to add more cash to Les Alexander’s wallet [ ] Overblown media hype [X] Poor matchups with potential playoff opponents [ ] Poor depth of next year’s draft pool [ ] The excessive conservatism of our front office And the following philosophical objections may also apply: [X] Ideas similar to yours are easy to come up with, yet have never worked in the past [X] You can’t win a championship without good defense [X] You can’t win a championship without dependable offensive options [ ] You can’t build a successful team without strong chemistry [ ] We only have a limited amount of time to build around our superstars [ ] Too many long-term contracts hurt you in the long run [ ] It’s a dumb idea to attempt to rebuild a team in the middle of the season [ ] Players should be allowed to play to their own strengths [ ] Feel-good measures do nothing to solve the problem [X] Doing it this way doesn’t make us strong enough [ ] Tanking is for losers, and results in a losing culture that we may never recover from Furthermore, this is what I think about you: [ ] Sorry dude, but I don’t think it would work. [ ] This is a stupid idea, and you’re a stupid person for suggesting it. [X] Nice try, moron! I’m going to find out where you live and burn your house down!
Won't happen but the sad thing is this thread is probably more sensible than the Penny Hardaway or Juwan Howard threads......
