Vince Carter? Seriously? What can the guy even do anymore. BTW: I heard a rumor that we had traded TMAC for VC in 09 right before the deadline but Tmac got word and immediately had surgery before we could sign a deal and the Nets refused due to the surgery. Does anyone know about that? Sorry to get off topic...
Damn, I hope Marcus has been improving over the summer, because the more I watch video of him and CBud, it's obvious Chase is the better ball-handler, better on the break, faster, more athletic, and a better/more fluid shooter. Marcus could be a better defender, but his lateral quickness is about the same, so I'm not sure. I don't think our search for a star SF has ended.
exactly, they made that pick with him at the three in mind. I'm going to take their opinion over anyone's here. While it isn't ideal, bud isn't a terrible option at the 3 for now. He proved that last year once he took over the starting spot.
As no worries mentioned up there, T-Will might play some 2. On ESPN he's listed as a SG, perhaps he worked at his shot to make give Martin a run for his money. I think he should back up Lowry and play some PG especially against the taller more athletic guards such as DRose, DWill, and so on....
You can put more emphasis, but you have to look at everything, because sometimes your weakness does not have anything available to help at that spot....so incrementally increasing positions of strength is a good alternative. DD
Whaaat? No way, at most i'd say they are close to even, but no way is bud obviously better than Morris in all of those. Bud doesn't handle the ball left to right much/well, he's pretty much forward dribbler. I think Morris would have more weapons on the break. Wouldn't surprise me if their foot speed is equal, but I think Morris edges him out. Bud is not that athletic. He jumps high. A distinction has to be made between these two. Athleticism involves balance/coordination, speed, strength, agility, etc. Morris clearly is more athletic. Bud has more of a textbook shot, but Morris' shot is smooth itself. Bud edges him out because of range. you also didn't even consider Morris' post up game, which blows Bud's out of the water and into oblivion.
This one's for you, Bud. Neither Morris nor T-Williams is capable of putting up 30 point games like Bud. His ankle injury at the start of the year was the cause of his low overall 3-point shooting average. After recovery, Bud played well, especially when allowed to attack the basket, and his defense improved. I remain unconvinced Morris has the quickness to play SF, and Williams doesn't have enough size (height).
i really wish the rox could pull off a deal to get iggy.. hes a tough defender and a great slasher/playmaker and hes hardworking.. i think a combo of scola/budinger and maybe a 2nd rnd pick would be a good deal for iggy/?....not sure who else on the sixers...
I wanna clarify what you mean by that. T-Will did have a game his rookie season where he logged 27-13-10, so its not a stretch to say he's capable of putting up 30. And Morris is an unknown commodity at the moment. We don't know how he's gonna play at the next level.
I'm not understanding where or how budinger became such a defined and proven player. Anyone remember Mike James? Yeah he had a hell of a season in Toronto. A season and then came back to earth. Budinger hasn't even started a whole season. Morris hasn't played one NBA game. I think Morris is clearly more talented. If both work equally as hard, Morris will be better. Budinger has to give 100% ,AND hope Morris gives less, to keep his starting spot.
Video don't lie. I watched all of Morris' career at KU and of course CBud with the Rox. Morris has his work cut out for him. He is NOT more athletic than Bud. His speed is ok end to end, and he is stronger, but falls behind when it come to redirection and quick cuts. With the ball he lacks the coordination that Bud has, often having to fall back on a quasi post game after getting the first step, when he should be beating his man off the dribble, because he can't properly gather himself or go up and over for the finish. Very often his defender would often get shaken by his quick first step, but catch up and get back in position before he could get to the rim. He has footwork issues on the break and would often barrell into defenders instead going over and around them. His lack of notable leaping ability would kill him in these situations. He has trouble being decisive and getting to his spot on the break and is average at best at mid-air contortion for getting the finish. Lateral speed is the same. Were he built less like a 4, I think he'd be quicker, but as it is he has classic tweener speed in this regard. Without a year's experience the league and training under Battier, his D on opposing SFs will initially be as bad as Chase's was his first year. 1 on 1, his post game gives him a notable edge over Bud, but if we continue to have a primarily motion offense, that area of his offensive game is marginalized due to the emphasis on breaks and quick catch and shoots, which he is not as good at. He works more from the ball-stopper mold, a-la Carmelo. Also, he had great success bullying the smaller swingmen in college in the post, and getting around the 4s. That's wont be the same at the NBA level, where there are 4s just as fast and 3s just as strong. This isn't to say that he can't eventually be better than Chase, because he oozes with potential, but this first season, I can definitely see him putting in some games with the RGV before getting significant PT.
McHale wants post ups, and he loves Marcus Morris, who was the best post up player in college basketball last year. I want to play bigger players.
While Budinger may not be a great post up player, he does have a post up game, he posted up Paul Pierce and scored over him in one notable play from my memory. DD
Certainly he does, but it is not an aspect of his game that any coach would ever use, outside of maybe Don Nelson. Catch and shoot. I just hope he attacks the rim more. He has the ability to put up 15-18 a game If he doesn't rely on his jumper so much. The first two months of last season was some of the worst basketball I have ever seen from an NBA player...
