I wouldn't drive one in the U.S. unless I was only driving local. The lack of crumple zone disturbs me.
If everbody drove small cars, size wouldn't be a problem. I have no earthly idea why people who have no use for trucks, by huge ass F-250s and Rams just because it is texas.
I drive them all the time because I use car sharing services in Berlin, Munich, etc. I'm 6'6 and I fit in the car, no problem. Not sure they are perfect for Houston, though. They are more for inner cities with narrower streets, etc. Penis extension .
I can't fit all my junk in such little trunk. Honestly, I can't. Says the biggest bird in the world...
Sorry to take away from the direction of this thread but talking about small cars like the Fiat 500, does anyone else still drop whatever he's doing when the Fiat 500 ad comes on and just start drooling? This ad and the one she's in with Charlie Sheen I will never never never get tired of watching those ads or her in them. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cpi2IAec9Ho" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/jjYxE2VD7VE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I drive a Honda Fit. It is about the same as a Ford Fiesta, but bigger than a Smart Car or Fiat. I don't see why some people won't drive a small car...I have never had any issues.
I just re read my post and was surprised no grammar nazis pointed out I used by instead of buy. It was making me cringe looking at it.
Those smart cars hold up pretty well in crashes. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ju6t-yyoU8s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> If I ever were to get a smart car though...which would probably be never...I would get an IQ.
Does anyone actually own one or know someone that owns one? This seems like a good idea for non-highway driving if its $100/month. Would definitely save me a lot of stop and go wear and tear type driving on my car.
i could drive the fiat. but i just dont think i could drive around in the smart car no matter how inexpensive it is
THANK YOU. There's no reason why EVERYBODY shouldn't be driving a smart car. I wish Obama could get a law passed requiring proof you actually NEED a truck, because you're a contractor or farmer or something in order to get a license to drive one. Occasional use for helping someone move, or taking home firewood etc. Does NOT qualify. And priorities people. Those who claim they're more comfortable in a truck, because of extra leg room, head room, heavier duty seats, riding higher, better visibility, more clearance in water, & not wanting to end up like the smart cars sandwiched between rigs in the photo above, these are not sufficient reasons to just drive whatever the hell you want either. As T.B. Points out, if EVERYONE drove a smart car, that wouldn't be as big an issue anyway. Yeah you might feel safer in your truck, but your safety is MY safety liability. GROW UP!
Re: safety, if you're really too scared to drive one of these in houston traffic because of "20 ton 18 wheelers passing you at 90mph driven by truckers on speed" etc. maybe a motorcycle might actually be safer? IDK if the bikes that get 70mpg would still have the power to "defensively" accelerate out of dangerous situations significantly vs.an eco car. but it sounds more like it might NOT be okay after all muahahaha!
