Slam magizine say Yao will not be great. They say that Hilario will be better than ming and Hilario will be the best center coming out of this draft. But they were the ones who said Woods will be the rookie of the year.

I don't know what to think.

slam magazine, they've been known to be quite full of ****ty predictions. from grant hill better than mike, nets champs by 2001, to pretty much every roy, mvp, defensive player predictions.

Nene, at best, will be Ben Wallace.

Yao, at best, will be Rik Smits.

    I'll take Smits.

    Who cares?

I need to go to bed. I can't believe I'm talking about this.

(yes, I am actually speaking out what I'm writing)

I'd end with a Holden-style sad face, but I don't know how to do it.

maybe its just me, but SLAM magazine doesn't seem to be the most credible NEWS source... rather it just seems like a hip hop+basketball mag for the nation's youth.

I remember reading how Kandi was going to become an MVP like player in the league. They got that one pretty much correct....

yeah and when their guys suck they either diss the guy hardest (chris webber) or proclaim everyone else as stupid (stephan marbury. they're still riding his nuts).

Slam is just the basketball version of People magazine. It's not a credible source of info.
Personally, I find Slam to be annoying with the way everything written in it is done in faux hip-hop slang. It's the only magazine I know of written in ebonics. I think most of its readers are just wannabe white kids living in the suburbs.

but without Stromile's offemsive game. Think Bo Outlaw++.

It gives me great pleasure that some team will waste their pick on Hilario before the Rockets' 15th pick :)

Because of the hip-hop style of the magazine, most of Slam's readers are more interested in hearing about insane verticals and athleticism than they are in the actual fundamentals of the game. Hilario, with his wingspan and speed, is probably the most athletic big man in the draft, so Slam's naturally going to favor him. Also, since few people have seen him, it's hard for readers to disprove their opinions. Don't bother with Slam.

C'mon guys, don't diss Hilario because of Slam Magazine.

It sounds like Hilario could become a nice player in an Antonio\Dale Davis\Brian Grant sort of way. Depending on whomever drafts him, a team like Phoenix, NY, or Orlando for example, Nene could be a nice addition to their rosters.

I think Hilario will be better than Ming as well . . . I wouldn't take him at no. 1, but I think Hilario will be an EXCELLENT center in the league. Probably a 17 ppg, 10 rpg, 4 bpg guy. But I haven't seen him play, this is just off of what I've read about him.
