i propose having a mascot brawl as a new event. or mascot dodge ball, that would be great.

or how about this, get a bunch of mascots and little kids together, but tell the kids that one of the mascots is michael jackson. and give them metal bats. id love to see that.

It's time to ditch the dunk contest once again. Either that or go to online voting. A bunch of you have already said that the kid from Denver got screwed on his scores. How true. Kareem's always been a bigot. :D Why are there only 4 participants now? So long gone are the days of a REAL competition - Larry Nance, MJ, Spud, 'Nique........VC brought some life back to it. I agree that Richardson is a great dunker, but every year it seems to be more important to show who's in the stands acting & dressing like little children. Ridiculous. Keep the shootout. Heck, bring back the Legends game & get Magic's fat arse out there!

that contest sucked!!! so anticlimactic. they should give the prize to the best dunk in ANY round, cuase fred jones' dunk was super weak compared to j. rich's

the judges graded too high! That Jrich dunk with the backboard under the leg should have gotten at least a 15 from each judge by the standard they were going by. They weren't strict at all in their grading process we needed Dr.J judging

Mascot dodge ball does sound kind of interesting. At least everyone would have something to root for.

If JRich had made the last dunk he attempted, that would've been the sickest dunk ever. He threw it off the glass and I think he did a 180 and put his whole arm down in the rim a la Vince Carter. He lost the ball at the last second.

I posted this earlier in the all-star weekend thread in the garm:

    (re: Chris Andersen)

Yup. The judges were clearly biased by his lack of "star power" and his complexion.

He was looking down into the rim for goodness sake! Fred jones getting a perfect 50 for his first attempt? BULLSH*T.

They should really consider changing the rules for the slam dunk competition. Far too many times the winner is just winner by default. The end to the competition last night was just very weak with two missed dunks ending it.

Instead of a limit on the number of tries the dunker gets, they should just put a 2 or 3 minute time limit for each dunker. First dunk that connects is the one that's judged. At least then, if a dunker is running out of time and failed to do a difficult dunk numerous times, they can settle for a simpler dunk.

I really wanted to see JRich land that 360 dunk, and if not for the stupid rules, I think we would have seen it.

Why even judge the event. Just let them have fun.

I was going to post this. In the college dunk contest they have a 1 minute time limit to get their dunk in. That makes alot more sense and give a better chance for the player.

Chris Andersen is 6'10...big deal. It wasn't that great.
If not for the stupid rules JRich would have had 3 of the greatest dunks ever.
