What players are going to be in the Slam Dunk Contest? Is Steve going to be in it again? He has been in it every since he has been in the league...i want to see him do it again, but do you think that since he had surgery on his shoulder he wont do it or if thats the reason he doesnt go out and dunk on people as much as he used to? And if anyone knows any information about the dunk contest let me know please.

Steve said he does not want to be in. Hopefully he will change his mind. The six I would pick to go are

    Ricky Davis
    Desmond Mason
    Darvin Ham
    Richard Jefferson
    Jason Richardson
    Gerald Wallace

Boykins should enter for comedic relief.

Hmm, that explains why he was jacking up the 3s in real game. He needed to get some practice. :D

Mike wouldn't want to disgrace his legacy like that (at least I hope not). He's already won a couple dunk contests and after missing that dunk in last year's game I don't think he's willing to humiliate himself again.

As for Francis in the 3-point shootout, I don't exactly think he could win, but go for it Steve!

The Slam dunk contest would've been so awesome and Steve would be paricipating if NBA didnt' try to f----- it up like they did last year, that why Steve's not doing it.

Well, Francis is like 3rd or 4th in the L with a 3pt FG% of about 45%, even he he decides to enter the contest, I doubt he finish in the top 5. Dunkers and slashers have little luck with the 3 point contest, it's more geared towards pure shooters like Peja or Ray Allen.

Steve doesn't have a hope in 3-pt shootout. He's made for dunk contest.

Last year, they had the magical Spinning Wheel of Death. Steve had to spin the wheel, and he had to do the dunk that he landed on. He landed on the uhh... What's it called dunk.

    Stansbury or something dunk.

Basically, the State of Liberty dunk, which is a twisting 360 with one hand. Steve can't palm the ball, so he botched it some.

I definately think that "botched" is an understatement.

Yeah, I thought last year's contest might spell the premature death of the Dunk Contest with all the stupid gimmicks. Anyways, I think Steve said in the Chronicle that he has 2 reasons for not participating, one being that he doesn't really look to dunk that often anymore in normal games so he doesn't really belong in the contest and 2 being that he's already done it twice and that it is time to step aside and make room for the younger guys.

I'm glad you pointed out Steve's 3pt shooting rocketsrulz. He's actually slipped to #7 with 43.5% shooting from the arc. Still, he's in the top ten. The great Jason Kidd has jacked up 152 3 pointers to Steve's 92. I guess if your Jason Kidd, it doesn't constitute JACKING even if you are only hitting 35%

How about we just let Ricky Davis have a minute or two of absolute freedom.
Even better, throw in some Foward or Center to try to block him.

This year, if Davis isn't in it.......it WILL SUCK.

I think Steve has one more dunk contest in him. He didn't participate his sophmore year, so this would be the "third time is a charm" attempt. He'll be close to, if not, 26 years old when the dunk contest rolls around. Quitting the dunk contest is just another step in his maturation process...

Personally, I think both contests suck. The 3-pt competition is a little more valid because it relies on an actual point system. The slam-dunk thing is nothing more than popularity contest between popular individuals. Who really cares about either.......Harold Minor.....come on. Who really watches this stuff anyhow? The only thing I care about, is the Rockets winning games and making the playoffs. Steve and the others should be focused on that, and that alone.

They should have an All-Legends Slam Dunk Contest. My picks would be:

    Michael Jordan
    Dominique Wilkins
    Vince Carter
    Steve Francis
    Kobe Bryant
    Jason Richardson

    Now that would be swwweeeeeeeeeeettt!

I know Desmond Mason, Jason Richardson, and RJ are doing it. Hopefully Ricky Davis also. I think Amare might also, but his dunks are better in games.
