don't you mind to change "Need a 3 point shot" to "Need a TOUGH 3 point shot"? putting all 5 3-point shooters on the court doesn't necessarily generate an open shot.
The start of the 4th quarter lineup designed to draw fouls and get us in the bonus soonest should be: Yao Miller Martin Brooks Lowry (provided Yao and Miller can play together. Don't know if that will work.) You start with these guys and collect as many fouls as possible, then you bring in Scola and rest Yao at about the 8 minutes mark. Then you bring Yao back in with about 4 minutes to close out the game and situationally substitute Miller and Scola depending on defensive fouls against them and matchups. On the perimeter, Lowry and Martin have to be there. And if Brooks could learn how to draw shooting fouls, or how to draw fouls at all, his value would go much higher than it is right now. Once Lowry helps us get in the bonus, then you alternate your perimeter players, inserting Lee and Battier for defensive purposes (Lee preferrably since Battier has a severely declining offensive skill set and Lee is the better shooter). Closing out the last 4 minutes of the game when we are in bonus, Martin is a keeper on the floor. You've got Martin and Yao closing out the games. And situations, matchups, and how individual players are playing determines who else is around them.
need a 3 point shot: how about if it was last possession of the game Backcourt: Brooks, Lee Frontcourt: Buddinger, Battier, Martin Battier does the inbounding for us anyway and if it was just one shot (as in like 8 sec left in the game, why not have all 3 point shooters) Small Ball Backcourt: Lowry (pg) Brooks (sg) Front court: Martin (sf) Battier (pf) Center: scola
I agree, this is a great group. Something still tells me "too many", someone is going still be traded. I hate it but....too many players not enough minutes. Something is gonna to have to give. Yao Scola Miller Hayes JJ Hill Patterson Shane Chase Martin Lee Brooks Lowery Taylor Harris I count 10-11 guys that could handle starters minutes and only 8 normally see playoff minutes. Too many guys.
