Anderson will have to proably sign for less than his market value.

Anderson has a player option for his 3rd season. He may well take that up and then hit the "jackpot" when his bird rights kick in.

I'm scared about Mo. He turned down a lot of money to come play in Houston and I don't particularly want to offer him more than he was offered before.

I'm glad we signed Mo, but if we throw the bank at him I'll go into depression. Even IF he avgs 16-8 he is not a max player.

Here's the question I ask ya'll...Would you give him Kelvin Cato money(7 mil/yr)???

Depending on how well Mo pays I think he'd be in line for a pretty good pay-day... probably 6 mill a year wouldn't be out of the question, but the max would make me angry...

I think you've got to maintain your loyalty to Anderson first, but I've got to admit, because of Mobley he is the most expendable player in a financial crisis. Taylor is more valuable to the Rockets because he provides an inside presence. Anderson is the better player. It's going to get messy guys.

Screw it, I say we let Mo go to wherever the money is, then we trade whatever draft picks we end up with (I don't really remember who all owes us one and who will be likely to give it to us this year) to get a high pick in this years killer draft. We use that pick to get a dependable PF who is not looking to break someone's bank.

DrNueger: I don't think Moe is worth the max, but I don't think it would be a mistake to give it to him. If we resign Shandon and Moe, Houston isn't going to have any cap room in the foreseeable future anyway. Why not make the guy happy and lock him up with the max? i'd rather overpay him than not have him if it doesn't affect signing other free agents.

    Shandon Anderson rocks.

I really think Shandon has to play the 2 or get dealt. All his advantages ..ie..defense ,posting up,etc.are neutralized at the 3.Plus the guy moves so well without the ball and we can't seem to take advantage of that.Don't get me wrong,I want to see SA stay here for the rest of his career.I just can't see him continuing to take less per year any more.
I would really like to see the Rocks make a move towards Webber in the off season and that of course means freeing up plenty of cap space.......the alternative might be signing mo long term and going after Finley. The problem I have with this though is that we need a power forward who can play defense, rebound, and be a go to guy.(not asking much right)...hey if Mo shows his stuff, maybe we could end up with he and Finley)If not...Well,surprise Webber is that guy...and with the rumblings being heard he might come here.Don't forget those first rounders I mentioned.I would imagine that a couple of those get dealt.I would hope we resign SA deal him and a couple of ones for a stud 3 and somehow sign CWEB.
WE face losing Mo and/or Shandon...Is it worth getting Webber?...I say yes what do you all think?............Hardwood
P.S.Even enhancing our position is the low contract numbers we were able to get Cat in at.Perhaps keeping SA and getting CWEB would be the move,if SA will do it.

I wonder if Mo will take a paycut so we can keep him and sign C-Webb? If we land Webber
and get a DECENT PLAYER IN THE DRAFT we will
be the best team in the West.

Come to think about it we can max both Taylor and Webber. We will have just as much
money as Orlando did and they maxed out Hill and McGrady.

Yeah Lil Francis, but with Cato at the 5,Cwebb at the 4...that leaves us with to many 4's...I don't think Mo can play the 3.If we are going to spend big money on a 3,he sure as heck should be able to knock down that outside shot and be very athletic....in other words a star.....If Cato shows us that bigtime d inside(without getting into foul trouble),then maybe we keep SA,sign Mo,and go after Finley ...just things to ponder HH

Why go after Finley? Does he play the 3-spot now? I thought he was a shooting guard. I think we have an abundance of shooting guards. Although Finley is an all-star, I would not want to get rid of Anderson to land him.

I assume that CD and RT have talked to Anderson before even signing Mo to work out this understanding: We'll give Mo our cap-space at the end of the season; Anderson will use his option for a third season and then get a big Bird contract the following off-season. I don't think they would leave Taylor and Anderson wondering (or fighting) over how much of that cap-space each was going to get.

As for how much to pay Mo, we currently won't have the space to sign him to the max. I'm hoping Mo will be satisfied to take the $6 million or so that we'll have available. If he isn't, I really hope the Rockets don't dump salary just so they can overpay him.

Haven, it's a good point you bring up that we won't need to worry about cap space again for a while so we can go ahead and overpay Mo. It's probably true we don't need the cap-space, especially with Francis' Bird contract a couple of years after Mo and Shandon. However, I don't want him overpaid because it will make him very hard to be traded. I don't think he'll be dead-weight on the team, but you don't want to throw away that flexibility. So the less we can pay him the better.
