isn't he gonna be a free agent this summer, how about we sign him, too sweeten up the chinese gov. . .he's not that bad. . .better then some of the reserves we have. . .that way we draft Ming. . and he has someone to talk to and maybe that will totally convince him to sign w/ the rockets. . .and hopefully the chinese gov too. . . .just an idea....
Would you give up our number one for Zhi Zhi? I suspect you would not even consider it. Yet in the Chinese league they were one and two, was there that much difference?
Wang could be a good backup for Yao and might help him to deal with a foreign culture, I also think that the Mavs will resign him. Cato is so inconsistant, that I would look at the possibility of adding Jerome James as a backup to Ming with the MCE,at least he tries hard unlike Cato.
Quite an excellent idea. That trade will produce much cynergy effect on both Yao and Wang. They have long-time rivalry but companionship (possibly comradeship too). At least they both feel themselves at home since they freely converse in chinese. Wang will also get more confidence than he did in Dallas, and Yao will experience smooth transition from CBA to NBA with the help of his senior playerboth in China and in NBA. Even though they re-sign Wang this summer, we have so much to offer that Cuban will drool over. First of all, our favorite bait- Kenny Thomas, a reliable PF behind Dirk and LaFrentz. If They also re-sign Lafrentz this summer, they will need another sheer PF rather than Wang, (sorry I do not have any information on Mirsad Turkan now). Second, as far as we have Wang and Yao, we no more need Cato as far as the size concerned. Do DHL him to Dallas as soon as green light is on by Cuban. Third, the young SF like Lanky and TMo are also worth of third option for solid teams like Dallas. Pack one of them or both with 15th pick or next year's draft. Since Dallas is already playoff calibered, they will definitely need possible better draft pick in the future, and the deal should begin from this point. Then, what can Wang bring to Rox? That can make Rox one of most versatile team in the league, and posibly solve the woe of MoT's weight problem. At least we will have potential SF with size, and the trademark of "Asian Twin tower" which will monopolize the 1 billion fans across the Pacific. Imagine one great country of 1 billion population have perennial love for only one team in NBA!!!
We don't need "bait." Wang is an unrestricted free agent. If he wants to sign with the Rockets, that is his (and his government's) decision. Period. As I have stated in earlier posts, they could call plays on the floor in Chinese and no one would know what they were up to. How do you say "alley-oop" in Chinese? Wouldn't this be a huge propaganda coup for the Peoples Republic of China?
I did forget the downside. There could be two posses on the floor at the same time -- Steve, Cat and Morris and Wang and Ming. Would there be a tong war?
And not forgetting the obvious but... If we got Ming and Wang, who would play center for us in the beginning of the season?? They go to China.
A 3rd string center that is a 3-point specialist. Wow! Give Collier someone to sit with at the end of the bench now that Langhi is gone.
Actually he's a restricted free agent not unrestricted. You are right though it is still his decision, that is if his Gov. even let's him play in the NBA anymore.
Hire some geisha girls to be Rocket dancers, get Uncle Tai's to sponsor a giveaway day and start serving sushi at the games (like they do at Safeco) and that should do it. Doesn't Cuttino's mom cook dinner for the guys all the time? She better buy a wok! PS...i am fully aware that sushi is japanese...it was a joke
If we draft Ming I wouldn’t doubt if we did pursue Wang. He is better than Collier, has more range and he could help Ming adjust to the NBA lifestyle. Imagine the spacing it would create for Mobley and Francis to have Ming, Wang and Griffin on the floor at once. Sounds like a Rudy dream.
This is a brilliant idea. I hope the management could consider it. Wang may begin his season on the bench, he will be able to do things as well as he did in Dallas, ( I guess he will do much better), why not give him a chance. We are talking about a steal.
Hmm. If it's sign and trade, as a restricted FA, we need to satisfy Cuban - see MJAX - who would you give up for Wang? KT? Who would Cuban want?
On the other hand, perhaps its ok to just make an offer and see what happens. It could hang multi-year contract on Cuban, if nothing else.
