Yao ming and the rest of the league deserve better. There is no doubt in anyones mind that shaquille oneal is the most dominant player in the league right now and kobe bryant is going to end up being one of the best gaurds ever. They have both showed and earned that. But what bothers me is that they are babied by the league. I am sick and tired of seeing kobe bryant crying to the refs and of shaq constantly commiting 3 second violations and charges like it is supposed to be part of the game. There is no doubt that shaq is better than yao and any other center RIGHT NOW. When shaq lowered his shoulder and knocked yao to the floor last night it was an obvious charge. Just because shaq is stronger and prolly wasn't trying to foul yao DOESN'T mean he didn't. It is an embarrasment to the game to let all of this slide when it is obvious. It's getting to where when I look at the lakers, its like watching the jazz, just without the little shorts. I like shaq and I'm not blaming him for doing what he is being allowed to do, it is obviously working. I am getting sick of watching it overlooked constantly by the refs and more than that I am sick of kobe crying
No Im with you, but you know when things will be different....NEVER!!!! Shaq may have bullied his way around as usual but fact is, this game was ours. We had more than one chance to win it and didnt. I hate Shaq and Kobe....not only because they are Lakers but because I cannot stand arrogant athletes. It is one thing to be the best but it is another to think you are a GOD. I say F$$K them, F$$K the refs, and more importantly...F$$K the league Fight On ROX!!!!!
I'm with you too. The league needs to take action and start fineing the refs if they miss a clear charge call on one player more then twice in each game. I'm dead serious. Thats why alot of people don't like the NBA. The officiating. If they called things fair, there is no way MJ would have the status of the world and public that he has. He was babied also. There needs to be some action taken here. And I mean soon.
The NBA must get rid of human refs, and get robotic refs. Mistakes are intolerable. I don't care if the refs are human, they cannot make a mistake.
What the hell will that do? You think the ref's vision will improve, after they get fined? If they do that, then the NBA refs will strike or quit. Then the NBA has to hire NCAA or lesser refs to replace them. Bad idea all-around.
these arn't things that arn't seen by refs, they are things that are overlooked by refs. These are things that are seen by everyone, just overlooked because the mentality, " oh that is shaq, he is supposed to dominate everyone, LA HAS A BIG MARKET, SO WE WILL LET IT GO SO IF THEY GET IN THE PLAYOFFS WE WILL MAKE MORE MONEY FOR US."
i don't think people understand. shaq doesn't run over people and get away with it b/c the refs miss it or don't think it's a foul. they don't call it b/c that the way the league likes it. they protect superstars to an insane length (i'm ok with some stuff b/c i don't want stars sitting on the bench with ticky tack fouls) and shaq and kobe get the best of the best treatment. it's obviously ridiculous but the refs don't do it b/c they're blind, they do it b/c that's how they are supposed to. i don't honestly think the refs just happen to keep missing shaq bulldozing people or just happen to give kobe free throws everytime he misses a fadeaway with his guy simply looking at him weird. and i certainly don't think the league grades them and looks at the film and just happens to miss all these things. it's the way they want it and that's why it won't change. who had 4th post in the pool for how fast kidrock8 would get to this laker-hating thread?
It's simple. Shaq has more offensive fouls then the entire league does in 1 season. but he doesn't get called because him and the refs kiss each others ass. This should not be tolerated. Either make the correct call and blow your whistles to make the game fair for both teams or lose some of that hardly-earned cash.
I remember hearing the annoncers durning a playoff game a while back that say the way the Refs decides an offensive has partly to due with how they fall. Vlade gets a lot of flop called fouls just because he falls straight back, which to most officialls meant his feet are set. But if you don't fall and u just move back, it means that your foot isn't set. BTW, aslong as you are inside that little circle, there's no such thing as an offensive foul. I remember one play in the LA - Philly series where Shaq literally ran over a helpless Mutombo, but because Mutombo was moving (or being pushed around) its techanically not a foul. As far as Shaq's elbow, he uses his shoulders a lot more than his elbows. And calling an offensive foul for hitting some one with the side of ones shoulders is a really hard call for the officials to make. In summary, for us to play Shaq, when Shaq gets the ball, Yao's got to play up on him, if Shaq hits to the point where Yao is force shift his postion, he should fall cause that's the only way it can be legitably called a fould. Divacs does it, it works, we need it.
