Evidently I been fighting it up looks like I got my 1st cold of the season.

Stuffed/runny nose are the worse of it. This is the one symptom
that irratates me the most. Cannot sleep and always feel cloud headed.

What are the best remedies for the cold? what gets rid of the congestion in the nose!!!?

    thanks Clutchfans . . .

I've always found the best relief was Alka Selzer Cold medicine. I also like that you ingest it already dissolved so it works faster.

Just got over a cold last week myself. I used one of those nasal sprays to clear up the nose congestion and some benedryl to stop the running...use it before you go to sleep and you shouldn't have any trouble breathing. The spray is temporary so you might have to spray your nose again in the middle of the night if you wake up.

Hot/spicy soup helps clear things up too...but unless you're taking an antihistimine it'll make the nose run more.

How do you sleep when you're sweaty? I've got to be comfortable to get to sleep.

Humidifiers are awesome. There's some kind of Vick's solution you can add to them that works great.

Hang your head over a pot of boiling water should loosen up some of the crud if you don't feel like buying a humidifier.

Other than that, drink lots of fluids: water, hot tea, soups, etc.

nyquil usually knocks me out pretty good so I don't even feel anything until I wake up later on.

I think you can't really get rid of it.

I've been taking this approach for a while:

    1) Drink as much water as possible.
    2) Sleep with lots of layers to sweat it out.
    3) This is tough, but go for a jog, I promise you won't regret it.
    4) Gargle with and very slowly inhale salt water.
    5) If you're not in a sufficiently humid place, get a humidifier or boil water constantly and inhale it.

Other than that, I take royal jelly + ginseng if it's really bad. Caution: this will make you feel worse for 10-15 minutes.

The cold medicine just really annoys me. For the amount of medicine I'm having, I feel like the results are terrible. If nothing will solve the problem, then I just want to speed up the process as much as possible.

Just got over a bad one a few weeks ago.

-If you use nasal sprays be careful because overuse can cause rebound congestion. Use them no more than 10-12 hours apart.

-Neti pots work for nadal congestion but the results last a hour or two at most.

-Pseudophedrine is great, if you can find it. The meth heads have pretty much ruined that drug.

-Please do not use or accept antibiotics. They are way overused and they won't even help with viral infections.

-Medicines like Nyquil and others that have doxylamine are great for night.

-Get plenty of rest and liquids.
