I'm quoting the same stats that Dearrock used in his thread, but the subject is different. ESPN Differential Stats FG% differential: 1st - Rockets: +5.2% 2nd - Minnesota: +3.4% 5th - Lakers: +2.1% 3Pt% differential: 1st - Rockets: +13.3% 2nd - Detroit: +12.9% 3rd - Sacramento: +9.5% FG Attempts: 1st - Utah: +4.5 2nd - Miami: +4.0 3rd - Portland, Minnesota, Memphis: +3.3 ? - Houston: -2.6 FT Attempts: 1st - Lakers: +11.0 2nd - Philadelphia: +7.7 3rd - Detroit: +6.9 ? - Houston: -4.1 ----------------- The Rockets can shoot. In fact the Rockets can expend more energy on defense to stifle their opponents while at the same time reserving what they need to get good shots at a higher differential than any other team in the league. Since the Rockets are decent rebounders at +2.1 per game (better than the Lakers and Spurs), you can see that the two stat categories we are most lacking in are: -2.6 in turnovers (worst when it counts) -4.1 in free throw attempts (+2.9 last year) The Rockets are having trouble handling the ball are not as aggressive as they need to be offensively.
I think they are aggressive..especially Steve and Mobley. They are aggressive but sometimes they get boneheaded at the same time...and lose the ball. Turnovers is a horrible problem. We average like most turnovers per game in the NBA. That's not good...we need to cut down on mistakes. Don't play Moochie and there's already 3 turnovers less and probably 10 points more scored! He's like a disease...somehow he screws everything up. Like the radio said..he dropped an egg or whatever. Turnovers is our main problem...Yao needs to be more aggressive. Imagine if Eddie was still on our team...even less aggressive. Or maybe JVG could have made EG a great player. We need consistency! Our guys need to trust each other...and Moochie should not play!
That's absolutely ludicrous. He at least demands attention when he has the ball, which frees up his teammates, and that's a part of being a PG. Also, he grabs rebounds at an impressive rate. Unlike Moochie, who may turn it over with less than single coverage, and can't score for ****. He's not even good defensively, and constantly blows layups. I don't know how you came to the logic that Steve without shooting is liek Moochie, but maybe you should re-think that one.
That's why we need a veteran backup PG. Steve can't play 48 minutes and sometimes he might not play well.
We also need a better PF. The WC is loaded with great PF. EG really hurts us by first not playing, second not developing as we like. Cato can't match up well with fast PF.
