grummett, Don't feel like shoveling snow or chipping ice? Here is a way for your daughter to practice shooting without going outside. agreed, except for on thing, the first "e": i believe in eyeing the back of the rim. reason being, that as long as your shot is str8, there are only three things that can happen: 1. WAY SHORT - if you eye the front of the rim, you come up with a shandon anderson airball. if you eye the back of the rim, you might get a good bounce. 2. WAY LONG - if you eye the front of the rim, you'll probably hit the back of the rim and put someone's eye out. if you eye the back of the rim, you'll probably get the "excuse me, the bank is open" shot off the square. 3. DEAD EYE - while we'd all like to be bird-esque dead eye shooters, truth is most of us aren't, be it due to defense, fatigue or whatever. truth be told, if we hit exactly what we eyed, no one would ever hit a shot. ------------------
What...you actually make her do that?! Your mean. What are you The Great Santini or something! lol. My dad would actually yell at me to get back into the house, "You dumb bunny. Your mother is worried."
Thanks for the help. I just nailed 16 in a row from the line today. That wrist snapping really works wonders. ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death."
R'Us, I don't get this if there is a gap between your palm and the ball, does that mean you are pinching and holding the ball with the tips of your fingers, which would result in a very minimal back spin and terrible shooting technique (for me this this the major flaw in Shaq FTs, and this mostly cause he has such large hands). The ball should be sitting in your hand, but should NOT be initially touching the tips of your fingers (from the last knuckle) and and then when you shoot the ball, the movement and contact between this part of your finger tips (the tips of your fingers is the last part of your hand that makes contact with the ball) generates the back spin on the ball and gives you a meaningful snap of the wrist and follow though. I dunno, I'm just sayin what coach told me. Oh yeah BTW, since were on the subject of basketball, our team has won two straight! Woohoo! Last game we played was against Nortbrook High and we beat em by 20. I got a steal in the final minute and was on a fast break and then a center and a forward all of a sudden stood in my way so I passed it back to my teamates who proceeded to miss the layup. I went and stood on the 3pt line and then one of my teamates caught the rebound and passed it out to me. I drove it down the left side and then, get this, just like J-Dub himself, I did a no-look behind wrap around pass around the wall of defenders waiting to swat my stuff at the goal. My teamate caught the ball and proceeded to miss the layup (all-open layup) and the other guys got the ball as time expired. Last week we played Conroe and beat em 61-34 or something, I know it was in a 11-20 pt range. ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!
Remember verse, these are kids ranging in age from 6 to 11. It's easier to teach them to see the front of the rim than the back. Also, many of the younger ones are not strong enough to "overthrow" the rim. I tell them to see the front of the rim and put everything they have into it. Many times it is still an airball. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
