Shipley's - Big Earl Kolaches

what's so great about them?

 

I lived outside Houston for 4 years. I missed my 24 hour donuts. And now I've gained weight since being home. D'oh.

 

is there a shipleys downtown?

 

Man, I'd love to put Earl's big fat juicy saugage in my mouth!

they look the same. i hate how they don't sell kolaches after 11am. But they sell donuts all day... that doesn't make sense.

 

Whoa, what Shipleys do you guys know that stays open past 5 or 6?

 

the one by my house closes at 10pm and opens at 5am.

 

The one on Scott St across from Robertson Stadium is open 24 hours.

 

So is the one on South Post Oak.

I see people dealing crack, er, I mean buying donuts in there all the time when I come home from a gig at 3AM.

 

Oh yeah, forgot about that, but don't they only have glazed at night?

 

The kolaches were the only thing at Shipley's that I felt was a little weak. I'll have to give the new kolaches a try this weekend...

 

so which place has teh best kolaches? kolache factory?

 

I prefer Shipley's sausage/cheese kolaches

Kolache factory has good ones as well, though they have too much bread on them for my taste. They are good, though...I just ate them too much a long time ago

 

Nothing beats a warm fresh out of the oven Shipley's glazed donut with a glass of milk. Their kolaches are pretty top-notch as well.

 

I think they're actually glazed with crack.
