This. Sheed in his prime was equally talented arguabally even more in comparison to Duncan and KG. It's his drive, motivation and thirst to be the greatest that was always suspect. He had all the tools to be one of the greatest PF's in the history of the game.
I am astonish by this poll, Odom is winning in a near blowout, I guess everyone is reference the players as they are currently. It's suprising, but until recently I do not think Odom was anywhere near the impact of player Rasheed is or was, even 2 or 3 seasons ago. Rasheed had nearly everything in his game from post moves; long range shooting; decent passer; and most of all, a very good defender.
I doubt most of these posters remember Sheed from his North Carolina, Bullets, Blazers days. They probably saw him towards the end of his Pistons run and the present fleshy, washed up version of Sheed in Boston. Even his numbers don't really jump out during his prime but he really could and should've been a guy that put up Duncan/KG type numbers in their prime. Sheed averaged 20 ppg only once in his career and he never averaged more than 8.1 rpg. A true shame cause the only thing that held him back was lack of desire and some lazyness. Anytime I think of Sheed I think there's nobody that's done less with more. He had HOF talent.
He can't and he won't. He's nothing more than a three point chucker with a big name at this point. The moment he checks into the game you know exactly what he's out there to do. Reminds me of how Cassell used to be towards the end of his career.

Tim Thomas. And Lamar Odom is no stranger to that list either.. the best game he ever had was his 1st in the NBA.
At their best, Odom is a better player period. Odom is the most difficult player to match up with when he's on his on. Wallace was a difficult cover, but watching aldridge is the same as watching a young wallace. Odom at his best is a walking triple double.
Rasheed can stretch the floor even more than Aldridge. Rasheed is a MUCH MUCH better defensive player than Aldridge. Odom is tough to match up with, sure, but Wallace is/was a beast down low.
Wallace didn't start shooting 3's till he found out that was an easy way tpo get out the paint. Aldridge has 3pt range, he just don't shoot it which would make me dislike him even more. Wallace wasn't even a good rebounder. I agree with sensation about wallace being on par talent wise with garnett and duncan, but show me a guy who is 6'10 with pg handles, rebound like a 4, and run the court like a sf. There are none and thats why when he plays well, the lakers are near impossible to beat.
Yeah, obviously the Lakers are unbeatable because they already have the best one-two punch in the game in Gasol and Kobe. I would put Prime Wallace on a similar level as Gasol and Odom one notch below that.
Odom can be a mismatch, and that's why everyone praises him, but he doesn't really utilize the mismatches. Furthermore, his defense is not something to be envied. Sheed in his prime was one of the most feared post players--and he was definitely no slouch on defense. It's not even close.
If you replace Rasheed Wallace (at his best) with Odom (right now or at his best), the Trailblazers never reached in conference finals in 1999 or 2000, while the Pistons of 2004 and 2005 are probably stuck in the East, never appear in the Championship. He would leave a really gigantic hole in those dominant Pistons' defenses.
