Rasheed Wallace has been in the NBA 15 years and he spoke after Friday’s game like a true veteran who thinks the league he loves has gone way too soft. His rant began when asked about the technical assessed when he argued about a second-quarter foul called on him for running into Toronto’s Hedo Turkoglu. “They gotta know that he’s a damn flopper,” Wallace said. “That’s all Turkododo do. Flopping shouldn’t get you no where. He acts like I shot him.” Wallace said that’s a cheap way to play defense. “That’s not basketball, man. that’s not defense. That’s garbage, what it is. I’m glad I don’t have too much of it left.” Reminded that he has three years left on his contract didn’t hold back his lecture, adding that Paul Pierce did nothing wrong on his dunk over Chris Bosh early in the fourth quarter. “This game is watered down, watered down with all that flopping [crap],” he said. “They’re setting rules on us to the point where you’re taunting if you dunk on somebody. Paul dunked it and then he didn’t say nothing but it’s a tech. “Let the Golden Child do that or one of the NBA Without Border kids do that, it’s all fine and dandy.” For the record, Wallace confirmed that the ‘Golden Child’ he was referring to is indeed LeBron James. http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/boston/basketball/celtics/2009/11/27/sheed-nba-going-soft/
lol Here's the dunk over Bosh. He got kneed in the nuts first and then dunked on. Talk about a double Whammy. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lh29tiM-px4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lh29tiM-px4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
That's hilarious. His teammate, Paul Pierce, is one of the premier offensive floppers in the game. I wonder what Sheed thinks about that.
i know. he also forgot freakin' big baby davis, who's a notorious flopper also. but i do agree with him. flopping is killing the game. it makes those players look weak, and the game pathetic. players who flop should get a technical.
Can't help but notice that Pierce gets away with shoving away Nesto with the off-hand...I've seen all premier offensive players do that to a degree, but isn't that an offensive foul?
i guess he wants all players to knee others in the groin...that should have been an off foul pn PP, dude even aimed for it...
That's where Sheed blows his credibility. What he said was true but his own teammate is a big part of the problem.
Pissed on Bosh...my brother PP34... Sheed is right though...tired of these players flopping... even when Shane, Chuck and Scola do it...thats not basketball.
Isn't it ridiculous? He's been using his forearm rather blatantly for years yet nobody seems to notice. Plus, I can't remember the last time I saw KG set a screen where he wasn't moving his feet. Also, I love how the NBA is "going soft" according to Sheed as he bombs away three pointers all night. Just a tad bit ironic.
The whining here is out of control. First, Bosh on that play likely overreacted to cover up the fact that he made a horrible, horrible defensive play. He was able to get up just fine. I like Bosh as a person and a player but man is he soft. Second, people claim that the officials call the games tight to somehow advantage the Celtics (the Raptors shot way more free throws than the Celtics even though the Raptors hardly took a shot within fifteen feet of the basket; and the refs called TWO technicals on that play), and in the same breath claim that every time Pierce makes contact with an opposing player should be an offensive foul. He barely touched Rasho Nesterovic on that play. More likely he beat him off the dribble because he had a speed mismatch, which is I feat I could probably manage. Drawing contact and taking charges is part of the game, though I think that the NBA needs to cut down on the number of fouls called. The main problem is when certain star players like Chris Paul have seizures every time someone touches them. I don't agree with Sheed that Hedo is particularly guilty, but I could be wrong.
I don't care how tough you are... nobody can withstand getting kneed full-force in the balls. You can't take it, Yao can't take it, Dwight can't take it, hell... even... Duke Nukem can't take it.
I think Rasheed is a really immature punk. Moreover, I don't think he's very good for the game of basketball. The things that his presence encourages... and it's fine if he thinks these things but I wish he'd shut the hell up about it all.
wtf was that!!! Man that was fugly, first the forearm and then the kickout to clear the lane. For a second I though that was Bruce Bowen.
So I checked the spread. Boston failed to cover the 13 point spread. You can see the score was 87-72 or 73 in the video. I am betting on the Jazz tonight.
