*paraphrased **will post the podcast when/if I can MV: Hows it going? SR: Good, you's? MV: Good. Getting a lot of love on the texts. Your primary job? SR: Working with the players, offensive skills development. Been great working with Rick, Jack, etc. Make sure guys like Chase, Jordan transition into the NBA so they can maximize their NBA careers JL: I'd tell guys to go talk to Shawn Respert. SR: Life is so short, they have a great opportunity. The opportunity is there for them. In a blink of an eye, it could be gone. I enjoy having fun with it. They earned it. Have fun, enjoy it. MV: Take us through it when you had cancer, please. SR: Short verson, end of rookie year, lump in abdominal area. Trainer did tests, came back positive. Had to do radiation. When I wrapped up, flew out to LA and played. Ive been ok. Only 1 relapse. Since then, I've been ok. Full credit to my staff during that time. JL: You know about recovering and getting back on the court. Talk about Yao? SR: Yao has been very good. Almost had to pull him back some. Our guys trying to feed him a little at a time. 100% is our goal to get him back at. Dont want to rush anything. He's on the court, a little shooting and post work. No contact, no 1-1, no cuts, no hard jumping. Dropped a good 15-20 pounds. His body readjusting MV: Bullet points on Brooks, Martin, future for Scola SR: Such a young guy like Aaron continues to evolve his game. I wanna see him physically stronger. Has speed, agility, can shoot the ball. Wanna see him challenge next tier guys like Williams amd Paul. Luis is hardest worker. He is a machine. Still in the gym 4 days a week. Pumping weights and conditioning. I think the organization will reward him. Kevin Martin a natural scorer. Gotta challenge him to become better defender though you sometimes can't change a guy. Perhaps learn some things from Shane. Jordan and Jermaine have been in the gym the most. Jordan will be a integral part. He is gonna be impact player early. Jermaine will be like Shannon Brown for LA and Wes Matthews for Utah. He'll be in the picture next year when we get things going. MV: Thoughts on Lakers & Suns, Magic & Celtics series? SR: LA intrigues me. Boston too. Both playing well for 5-6 game stretch. Now ORL and PHX have busted back. LA has superior talent and size but with Bynum and injuries, its not the same team. LA gotta prove to shoot the ball from outside. PHX mix some things up. I think LA is too good overall and will pull it out. Boston looks tired and old. LA & Boston Finals. Boston will I think pull it out. Tougher and play defense. Have guys who really want to win. Guys on their last legs. MV: You go back to Big 10. What you think about expansion? SR: Always about trying to improve. Big 10 will always be Big 10. The more the merrier. Any new teams we can beat up on is good.(laughing) MV: Thanks for the time SR: Alright, thanks for the time.
"Jordan and Jermaine have been in the gym the most. Jordan will be a integral part. He is gonna be impact player early" YES!!!
Yes x 2! JT seems to want to prove something this season. He has got some talents, if he gets it together, he can be an integral part of our rotation with his ability to create his own shot. Hill, please ask Hakeem to teach you some moves. The future is bright, Rockets fans!

Is there any indication of Hill's intentions of training with Hakeem this summer? Very excited, I am, to learn of these developments. I pray that Jordan Hill is a Houston Rocket for the '10-'11 season.
Good news accross the board, almost too good to be true... My thoughts are that as nice as it might be to have Yao in at the beginning of the season, it might be best to bring him along slower and maybe not play till November. It might cost us some ticket sales but I believe it could be better for him to shorten the season. If Hill is improving that much maybe he could get the starting knod while Yao is working his way back at the beginning of the season and see how he does next to Scola. I think the moves that he needs to focus on is facing up towards the rim and using his quickness to explode to the rim for a dunk, jump shot, or get fouled. But he will be a coveted piece in a summer trade so I agree that I hope he can still be on the team by then.
If so, it means the Rockets struck out on getting Bosh. Toronto is going to want ANY sign-and-trade package to start with Hill.
I would be fine with Jordan Hill stay if bosh is not coming. Maybe it's just me, but I see J hill as a super&rare talent with bosh like potential. It may turn out to be better than signing bosh to max deal, not to mention we have to sacrifice other assets and picks. Of course right now bosh is such a hot commodity in spotlight.
I wouldn't mind trading Hill for Bosh but I will be happy if he stays. Personally, I like what I see in our team with Yao coming back. I'm sure Morey will work his magic during draft night and throughout the offseason. We just need those need positions filled up some more. Would love that backup center, Whiteside, whoever, so we can develop them into a true center Yao backup.
It's to see that Yao has lost 15-20 lbs so far. He definitely needs to get his playing weight down, if he wants to ease the pressure off his feet. I hope he gets down to the weight he had in his 2nd or 3rd year. He was just as effective and was playing 80-82 games.
It's great that they aren't following the Joey Dorsey off season routine of sleeping and eating! Here is hoping they can make Landry-like improvements.
If Hill and Taylor are developing well ... don't be surprised if DM ends up getting a free agent center with (part of) the MLE, and try to trade up to draft a PF/C, and leave things as it is for the offseason. If we are in the mix to contend with a healthy Yao by mid-season next year, then try to use Battier and/or Jeffries expiring contracts + picks or our Euro stash to get the missing piece (perhaps expiring swap with Dalembert if a shot-blocking center is still our missing link)? Just postulating ... It seems paying ~$20m for Bosh for the next 5-6 years together with Martin, Scola, Lowry, Yao and AB (after next year should command $8-10m contract) may not necessarily be better than an improving Jordan Hill at ~$3m and a Cousins (if possible via a trade up) / veteran MLE signing at C.
It's always good to hear that the young players are stepping up and putting in their work to improve their game. Still, Jordan Hill is on the first plane out if Bosh, or Al Jefferson want to come here.
