http://deadspin.com/5031134/shawn-kemp-cashing-in-on-rising-euro-has-offer-from-team-in-italy Euroleague went from stealing mid level players to desperate quick. 40 years old with a 32 year old daughter. Most people at age 8 are watching Pokemon, Power Rangers, and G.I. Joe. Shawn Kemp was too busy playing touch football where the grass is black and brown. One year of Shawn Kemp will cause Italy population to grow rapidly.
he's was one of the most exciting players to watch. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/dKz8ACUAApQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/dKz8ACUAApQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Its gotten increasingly harder to pull for him cuz he keeps doing dumb things to halt his comeback attempts. But I hope he's able to provide at least one more explosive dunk before he totally calls it quits.
I read recently that he has a son (in Atlanta, I want to say) that is looking like a pretty good prospect for college. I think he's in high school right now.
For anyone else that would be great news. For the amount of kids Shawn Kemp has, one prospect is a huge disappointment.
Um, no. I've ranted about this before. Nothing irks me more than when people overrate his prime to make the point about how hard he fell off. He was an athletic specimen, a tough defender, a worthy All-Star, but nowhere near the league of a Karl Malone, Charles Barkley, Tim Duncan, or Kevin Garnett. Get real.
All im saying is if he had the basketball IQ to use his god given talent better he could have been the greatest power forward ever. Im not even talking about his off the court messups. By no means am I saying Karl Malone and Charles Barkley did not have better primes then Kemp. Kemp was more talented and could do more things any power forward I have ever seen. He just did not have the IQ or the work ethic to do it consistently.
thacabbage does have a point like you said, but one can't deny that he was mentally tough in the playoffs.Payton and he did beat Utah on the way to the Finals which was quite an achievement. Jordan was surprised with his performance in the Finals too, where he was only 2nd to him. It is quite a fall for a worthy all-star to end up being even less than a shadow of what he was IMO,but Kemp has only himself to blame.
Seattle would have won that series too if the Bulls didn't have Rodman. Kemp would had outrebounded a Rodman less bulls team. this is why I'll always hate the Spurs.
