I grew up 2 blocks north of Greenspoint. I learned how to ride a bike on the construction site. Before the mall was there, it was a sheep pasture.

When it started going downhill was about about 10 years after all those apartments opened. It was right about the time I was about to move out and move inside the loop when it was at its worst.

I, personally, never had any serious problems, but my parents' house was burglarized when I was 20 and they stole several of my basses. That's when I remember thinking it was getting bad.

It is awful. You guys remember all those car dealerships that were there, all gone.

Somebody is trying to do something there, the last year there was some construction done at the intersection of Bellaire and Fondren, but it's like a useless oasis in the middle of a desert of sh*t. A nice looking traffic light doesn't really help anything, maybe it's a precursor of things to come, I hope.

The other day, I was pulling into the gas station at that intersection and this young guy was watching me and I knew it was coming. "Hey man, you wanna buy an iPod?" While I'm turning him down and trying to pump gas, another guy runs up telling me he'll do it for me, no need for me to get dirty. So I'm fighting both of these guys off until they finally let up. While I was pumping though, the stolen iPod selling family asked the helpful man for directions to Toyota Center. He gave them directions to Compaq Center/Lakewood Church and I did not correct him, but I did give the helpful guy a couple of dollars for sending them to the wrong place.

Sharpstown has been notoriously bad for 60 years.

Greenspoint, much to jeff's chagrin, was never a good area.

Hell, Bellaire was considered "the boonies" until 610 came along.

Sharpstown was nice in the late 70's and early 80's. Childhood memories of Aladdin's Castle arcade right above the escalator and the really good Italian shop right below the escalator.

By the late-80's, the place sucked and by the 90's, it was a disaster.

Thanks for calling the neighborhood I grew up in "never a good area." With your vast knowledge of the city, I'll take that with a grain of salt.

There was a cookie shop my sister and I used to love on the second floor. Now all they have is stores that sell sneakers and baby clothes.

    It's being aired tommorow night.

The teaser talked about Sharpstown being a model development for the nation and then showed a woman talking about gangs.

I'm sure they'll talk about economics (pc). The Sharpstown wikipedia page talks about run down apartments bringing in crime.

umm, if you want good cajun bbq...try out Another Brother's in-law place in Greenspoint Mall. Might be one of the best kept secrets in the Houston bbq scene.
