KidRock8, I thought that I addressed Pryzbilla as well. I did look at Richardson as coming from you; looked at the wrong post-that's my fault. But what has Pryzbilla done so far? Jack sh.., that's what. Calm down, dude. You act like you know it all. You are not a GM. Wait and see before you jump the gun on Collier. If he sucks, then I'll eat my words. But if Pryzbilla doesn't do crap, I'll remind you of it every day. Fair enough? Until then, try to find another topic to rant on. Or at least try to be objective and compare Joel and Jason's performances throughout this year instead of focusing on one side of the issue. I really am not trying to lodge a personal attack on you. My complaint is more general than that: if you want to complain, do it constructively. I'd like to see you in a position to make two winning free throws in big YMCA game. Give the boy some time. ------------------ Vote this year or quit b****ing
KidRock8, Why not bring up his stats at IU and Georgia Tech? ------------------ Vice-president of the Jason Collier Police [This message has been edited by Pass 1st, shoot 2nd (edited October 23, 2000).]
Because in his mind stats from 3 preseason games are more important than 4 years of college. Why? I have no clue. ------------------ President of the Jason Collier police! Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
Pass 1st-Because college stats have nothing to do with the NBA... Ask Adonal Foyle... I'm being objective... I have given stats, that are facts and proven that Pryz has done more than Collier thus far... You can tell me to believe in Collier for the sake that he is a Rocket... But you don't have ANY facts showing that Collier has done better than Pryz... I know it may be early, but Pryz has done better than Collier thus far... Normally players who have potential are the ones who have poor fundamentals but great athleticism... Collier is the opposite... He's supposed to have great fundamentals with little athleticism... So, I just don't see Collier being able to improve throughout his career, however long that may be... If Collier manages to play 20 minutes a game within 2 years then he will have surprised me and I'd have to eat some serious crow... But, I still like my chances that Collier will be on the fringe of making the roster next season... ------------------
The Cat- I don't know if you know this or not, but the college game is different than the NBA game... If you haven't realized that by now, then I wish you luck in finding some common sense... It's even more different for centers because they are no longer playing against 6-9 220 lb centers... Now they are against 7-0 255 lbers who are harder to shoot over and rebound against... Again, comparing the college game to NBA is comparing apples to oranges... I can name you about a 100 guys if I had the time who were bad asses in college and sucked hard in the NBA, or vice versa... If the college game were no different than the NBA, then Yinka Dare would be a dominant player... I know the truth hurts, but someone's gotta teach you sometime... ------------------
And NBA preseason stats have nothing to do with the NBA regular season... Ask Kelvin Cato... ------------------ President of the Jason Collier police! Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
KidRock8, We'll see...No more debate with you on this point. But I'll be keeping a close eye the season, and I'll be in touch with you. ------------------ Vice-president of the Jason Collier Police
Adonal Foyle (the Admiral) played at Colgate... hardly a "big time" school - Collier played at Indiana and Georgia Tech and racked up some pretty huge number, 17ppg, 45% FG, 9+ rpg, 1.5bpg for his senior year. What did Pryz do? Oh that's right, he got suspended and only played 1/2 the year... You haven't been objective at all - you give random stats from 1 pre-season game, which you then extrapolate to 48 minute per game comparisons to prove that Pryzbilla is better than Collier (plus another first round pick). If you REALLY want to be objective then you're going to have to wait a while to make your comparison. And FYI kidrock; the Rockets traded the 9th pick for the Bucks first rounder PLUS another first rounder. Milwaukee told us to select Pryzbilla with THEIR pick, the deal was completed before the pick was made. We NEVER had Pryzbilla (nor do we need him). ------------------
And FYI kidrock; the Rockets traded the 9th pick for the Bucks first rounder PLUS another first rounder. Milwaukee told us to select Pryzbilla with THEIR pick, the deal was completed before the pick was made. We NEVER had Pryzbilla (nor do we need him). Dr.N- thanks for putting this in. I'm getting so sick of direct Pryz/Collier comparisons, and the incredibly widespread misconception that with the ninth pick in the draft, the rockets select... Collier. Damn! Get it in your heads already! THE ROCKETS TRADED PRYZ FOR COLLIER AND THE BUCK'S 2001 1ST ROUND PICK. Every player the Rockets coveted was gone at nine. Collier was next on the list. The Bucks were ready to deal. The fact that he was picked at 15 is only relevant to the fact that the Bucks were ready to deal. Everybody, including the Rocks brass, know that he was not worth a #15. That's why we get another player in addition next summer! Christ! Wake up. Comparisons to Pryz and Collier are irrelevant because you're comparing pick #9 and a late 1st/early 2nd round pick. If Collier pans out equal at all to Pryz this year alone, then Rudy and co. will once again have pulled a major coup because we still have another first rounder coming to us. You want to make a comparison? Compare Pryz vs. the combination of Collier and the player we will select next year. You might actually draw something relevant. [This message has been edited by Nolen (edited October 23, 2000).]
Dr. N-Give me his stats... You'd see that in Big 10 games, Pryz averaged 11.4 or something like that rebounds a game... Great oversight on your part... ------------------
KidRock, Pryzbilla averaged 8.4 rebounds per game last year- LESS than Collier, the guy who supposedly can't rebound as good as Pryz. ------------------ President of the Jason Collier police! Looking for next year's Dan Langhi? Draftsource.net ClutchTown.com
he averaged 11.2 in Big 10 play... He had 8.4 in 30 mins overall... Which is about 10 per game if he had NBA starter minutes... Thus far, in the NBA, he's rebounding better than Collier... I'm happy that Collier rebounded well in college, but he hasn't pulled many in the preseason... If he can't do it against 3rd string competition, he won't do it in the regular season... ------------------
hey Nolen: agreed that arguing that the rockets took collier with the ninth is a fallacy, also comparing pryz with collier, but to say that "even the rockets brass knew collier wasn't worth a 15 pick" is ludicrous. If the deal was made before the rocks took pryz, and i agree that it was, the rocks could have had the bucks take anyone still available at 15; they weren't restricted to collier. i don't remember who all was left, but that's not the point. ------------------
Put Collier on the IR list and bring back Sleepy Floyd or Charles Jones!!!! ------------------ President of the Sir Charles Barkley Fan Club
Let's take that argument to the next level: so we didn't take Collier at the ninth slot, but the Rockets got what they wanted. Go 10th through 15, or 15th through the last pick and find a guy that fits the rest of our team as well as Collier "can" ("can" to say he admit that he hasn't shown himself-yet). I am really interested in what people have to say. Remember what KidRock8 didn't: we have another 1st rounder on the way. So pick whoever you want, and add a first rounder in the next year's draft that you want. Add whoever you would have taken than Collier, 10th through last pick, and add a first rounder next year. Here's the fun part: you get to play second guesser and the psychic. ------------------ Vice-president of the Jason Collier Police
KickRock: The Patriot League is not the ACC! Ask Adonal Foyle. ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. www.FlashAdvantage.com
Why on earth will Pryzbilla get starters minutes in the NBA? And if it's possible to say that by him dragging down 8.4 boards per contest in college is equivalent to pulling down 10 in starters minutes in the NBA, then we've got a REAL steal in Collier... he'll score 18.3 Ppg, grab 10 boards and get 1.7 apg, 1spg and 1.5bgp!! Actually neither of them have played a minute in the NBA yet... sorry to break that to you kidrock You seem to exclude the fact that Collier is our 3rd string Center and has played very limited minutes thus far. We've got a game against Detroit which will certainly give Collier some minutes to play (and should prove exciting for University Blue because he goes up against Montross) - I'm assuming Collier gets some pretty decent minutes because Cato and Hakeem are expected to miss the game. ------------------
Dr. N-You mean to tell me that these preseason games have been against amateurs??? I believe they still count as NBA games... I don't recall David Stern welcoming guys off the streets to play in the preseason... ------------------
I do not like or dis-like Collier. However, he needs to get on a strength and conditioning program. (Look what it did for Doleac.) I'm confident Pryzb^^^Montross will have no problems with Collier tonight. If Langhi gets court time, it will definitely be an exciting game. ------------------ Not only have the Drew bashers crossed the line, but they've sprinted a couple of miles beyond it. I don't recall a player ever having a pre-season game count towards his total number of NBA games. Therefore the pre-season games are NOT NBA games. ------------------
