Shaq has got to be one of the stupidest people in history. He is blaming the Lakers organization for being "fat"? I wish his dumb overrated ass would retire already.

I think Shaq's hysterical. He's just a big dork. That last quote hit me out of nowhere. The NBA needs more Shaq personalities. :)

    Tracy McGrady for Shaq! :D

lol, not for him being "fat" but that they've become "fat" by winning so many titles that they've lost the urge to win more. However, that analogy defies reason...when fat people get fat I don't think their desire to eat decreases, at least not most :p

If I'm LA, I tell Kobe we are trying to move Shaq and will build around you. I then make a few half-hearted attempts to trade Shaq and come back and tell both players no acceptable trades could be reached.

I'd gamble that A) After next season, Shaq won't opt out of his contract given how it will pay him and the paycut he would take going to another team and B) the team would be a serious contender for 2 more years (at which point Shaq's contract expires and lots of questions come up) and so worth giving it a shot

Of course if Shaq is a baby and doesn't play with heart or something, its pointless and you take what you can get.

Actually, I think the analogy is supposed to mean that they have gotten fat because their desire to not eat has decreased, which is to say the the desire to eat has increased, only not.

If I were the Lakers I would tell Shaq to piss off and play out his contract.

He has ZERO leverage, he can not walk, and no other team can offer him what the Lakers can.

I would make his work for his money.....

    Tough love baby !!

Agreed. Or else I would trade him to Atlanta. Make him actually have to WORK. Shaq gets so pampered. For once I would love to see him have to work as a "lone" superstar like guys like McGrady have done for a number of years. Kobe takes Shaq for granted and Shaq takes Kobe for granted. Bunch of babies!

Shaq may be a lot of things----stupid, talented, rich, uh, stupid----but I don't entirely blame him for feeling as he does.

Management long ago decided that Kobe Bryant is the future, and I don't blame them, either; but the public and the Lakers are banking their future on a player who may or may not have raped a girl, while shoving Shaq toward the door.

Again, Kobe has a good 10, 11 years in him, and Shaq has maybe two or three. But it has to eat Shaq that as the only player who showed up against the Pistons, he couldn't even get a teammate to pass him the ball.

You know, it's weird, Shaq's jokes always seem so much funnier in written word than when he says them personally. Maybe he just doesn't have any timing, but stuff like that last line in the linked article is freaking hilarious to read, but just strange to hear from him by mouth.

the way i see it, shaq is a crybaby punk who ran himself out of town. its his own fault, the oaf.

at the beginning of the season he was screaming at the owner (his boss) during a pre-season game..."PAY ME!". this was right after malone and payton had joined the lakers at a substantial paycut. screaming "pay me" was insulting and totally disrespectful to these two and what they did to come to la. shows that shaq is a selfish human being.

telling the media that you have been the GM for the last 4 years is another slap in the face to your boss and practically begs for a ticket out of town.

also consider the fact that he is fat, out of shape, not as dominant as he was and why should he deserve all the money that he wants.

he want michael jordan money, but isnt willing to work for it like mj did. up until his last year w/ the bulls jordan was still getting better and crazy as it sounds, truly earned his $35 million/year.

shaq ran himself out of town...the big oaf.

Exactly how does that make Shaq cheap? I have no idea why some people think they are entitled to money just because they do something. maybe it has to do with Shaq's income but I would not expect anyone to give me anything for returning their cell phone.

Sorry for taking this off-topic but i had to comment.

And despite all this, you can put Shaq on the crappiest team in the league and they'll automatically be in the playoffs.

I'm actually looking forward to him playing for a different team. It will revitalize his career. Good move by Shaq, imo.

I also think that this will be a humbling experience for the both of them. Depending on where Shaq ends up, he will learn what it feels like to play without a premier perimeter player. Kobe on the other hand will find out what it's like to truly carry a team, and we'll see if he's up to it.

Shaq would contend for best in the East on the team McGrady was on last year that won 21 games. I'd like to see McGrady have to 'work'.

I think what he meant to say is that the Lakers aren't eating soup with a fork anymore.
