I know this may be looking a *little* bit too far along the road...but Shane Battier from Duke coming out next year as a 6'8" SF looks perfect for the Rockets' system. He doesn't necessarily need the ball to be effective. He is an EXCELLENT defensive player (rebounds, blocks, steals). He also seems to be quite likeable and intelligent, something that is nonexistent in 80% of recent NBA draft picks. I think he will be available around the 10th pick next year, and hopefully the Rockets will package some picks (with maybe Orlando's or any other team that owes them a pick) to move up to get Battier. Thoughts, comments, abuse? ------------------
I rather have Carlos BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZER. ------------------ "I talked about what degenerates they [Mets fans] were, and they proved me right. Just by saying something, I could make them mad enough to go home and slap their moms." John Rocker
If, and this is a big IF, Mobley actually agrees to come off the bench, there is no way he will do it for more than one season. So that means Battier coming off the bench, what a waste of talent. Draft a power forward or center, maybe Woods, Haywood, Murphy, or that Baby Shaq guy. With multiple picks we should be able to trade up. I made it to 100 after all. I know that sounds like nothing to most of you but for a rook like me, this sure is a milestone. ------------------
I think we should keep Shandon the bench to provide a spark like Cassell did. PG - Franchise SG - Cat SF - Battier PF - Rashard Lewis (I wish) / Cato C - Collier (hehe) I don't think we can get Loren Woods. I dream about getting that guy...7'1". That would be a great replacement for Dream, but I think he is definitely gonna be the No. 1 pick in the draft. And in my opinion, Haywood sucks beyond belief. Just a big lug who dunks occasionally. ------------------
It's too early to tell next year's draft, remember Chris Porter was a possible #1 overall pick this year going into the season, and ended up going #55. Shandon has to start, it says so in his contract. ------------------
Don't forget to mention Terrance Morris up in this. I'm sure Francis would love for us to get him. ------------------
Battier at 10 no way, that's way to early but knowing the Rockets we would pick him at 3. I think a couple of those picks and Cato could get us the 1, and we select the 7'1 center from AZ. Maybe just one pick and Cato could get us Woods. Then we could use the Pistons or the Bucks pick to get us Battier or they guy who could keep Francis in Houston for the rest of his career Morris. ------------------

Shane Battier would definitely be a solid fit for this team. The early list of SFs to look at next season is Gerald Wallace, Terence Morris, Shane Battier and Vincent Yarbrough. Also, there are a good amount that could really rise up in the rankings like LaVell Blanchard, Tayshaun Prince, Richard Jefferson, Jason Richardson, etc. Early indications are that Gerald Wallace could/should become a top 5 pick in the 2001 draft. If you want the spectacular, this is the guy to be aiming for, though I think he will be out of the Rockets range. The player I think the Rockets would have a somewhat realisitic shot at and should be examining very closely is Terence Morris. Its still very early, and a lot of things can change as we saw this past year. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Hey I've been coming for about 10 months and I'm only around 130. And if it wasn't for some debates with some tourists I'd still be in the mid-80's. ------------------ "Stranger things have happened, but none stranger than this" - Commentator after a parachutist landed in the ring of a Holyfield fight
