I find it very interesting to compare these two stints with the Rockets. Think about it, Shandon and Quitten have very similar games with the only difference being Quitten is longer. Quitten started at the 3 spot, Shandon finihed games at the 3 spot. Shandon preformed remarkebl well, Quitten couldn't handle possibly the easiest offensive set in the NBA. Shandon started to get acclamated to the Rockets by stepping in and hitting a middle distance jump shot, Quitten was not a smart enough player to figure that out even though he was money from one step inside the arc. Quitten wanted to run but wouldn't take enough control to start the break. Shandon starts the break as well as finishes and at times does it all by himself. Quitten was supposed to be a defensive stopper or atleast neutralize his assignment, when did he ever do that? Shandon sort of took over the Mario Elie role of defensive stopper. He made the likes of Grant Hill look bad as well as neutralized Iverson just to name a few. Anybody remember Allan Houston's stats against when we played the Knicks last. Shandon came through in the stretch Quitten didn't unless you consider this to mean he really had to stretch to recover the ball after he dribbled it off his foot in the Lakers series last season. Quitten was expected to atleast average 20ppg last season but hey it didn't happen. I don't know that Shandondon averaged 14 ppg this season(anybody know) but he sure had a whole lot more 20 and 30 point games than Quitten did last season. Has anybod ever seen so many 4 point games with bad defense from a supposed impact player. I haven't and with Shandon here we won't because when Shandon is not scoring he is do everything else well enough to help us win. Quitten is noisy and a cancer blaming everybody else for inability to do anything else but clean MJ's jock. On the other hand I don't think I heard Shandon complain once. Why? because he is a team player. There is no dubt in my mind if Shandon wanted to he could easily be a 20ppg guy but believes in the team concept rather then propping himself up. By the way what's Shandon's contract compared to Quitten? What can I say Quitten bashing is fun. Now it looks like Clutchcity.net won't be Quitten free for atleast one more day, sorry guys.

Forget about Pippen. I'll take Shandon anyday
    of the week.
His game is great. A decent outside shot, he can drive and run the floor, great "D" and has a tremendous attitude.
I used to hate him in Utah, he always hurt us in the playoffs, but now i'm glad that the Rockets got him and I hope it's for a long time. If he can score a little more, 16 ppg.that would be a perfect fit. Also he needs to be more consistant. I know next year he'll be more productive.

    Good job Shandon!

can't wait 'til October. go Rockets!!!

Are there any more people who still want Sam Mack over Shandon Anderson? Like I said when the year started, Sam Mack is a SCRUB!! Anderson is Mr. Versatility. Sam Mack is Mr. One dimensional! Thank You!

Nope. But I'd still take Sam Mack over Bullard. Do you disagree with me there [IMG] ?

NO I don't agree. If I'm going to have a one dimensional player on my team, I would want the one who shoots 45% from 3 point land, not the guy shooting 30% from the field and 33% from long distance.

Plus, Mack wouldn't have played at all on this team. Not when we're stacked with the huge depth at the guard spots. Bullard moved over to the 4 a few times to give the Rocks some minutes, something that Mack wouldn't be able to do. So Mack has less value than Matt Bullard.

The thing I love about Shandow
is . . BAR NONE [including Francis
though I love the dunks] NO ONE ON
OUR TEAM FINISHES AS WELL AS HE.

On the break . .I want to see ANDERSON
or Francis End up with the ball
You get a FABULOUS Body Control lay up
    or a FABULOUS DUNKS

    He is a smart player
    He is Humble and Hungry

I admit I overrated Sam's ability outside of the Rockets offense, however he did perform decently well for Vancouver early last year in addition to performing well for us. I will also say due to the lose of Elie and Drexler we became a much better team after acquiring Mack.

I will also say I never thought Mack was the equal of Shandon and was preaching patience regarding signing Shandon. I also think Mack would be a good addition to the right team (LA, SA, Minn), and I would rather have Mack for 1-2 mil than Walt for 4+ mil (these were the 2 guys I mainly compared).

    To play devil's advocate:

What was Shandon's impact before the transition to a up tempo game? You'd have a hard time convincing me that Pippen (gloriful quitter that he is) wouldn't do well with the current make-up. Remember, there isn't a big 4 and 5 clogging up the post now when the young 'uns are slicing & dicing.

That being said, god I'm happy we got out of that cap-killer, I just want to make sure that we're accurate when we compare the two.

You are DEAD ON correct. Anderson is one of the best finishers on the break and off the dribble I've seen in a long time. I don't know how he makes some of the shots he takes, but they ALWAYS seem to go in.

This is the best way I can sum up the comparison:

Scottie Pippen is a poor man's Shandon Anderson.

And if you're paying for Scottie Pippen, that's what you are: A poor man.

I like Shandon, especially his D. Will I take Shandon over Sam Mack. Absolutely. Is Sam Mack a scrub? Absolutely not. I think his game is more similar to Walt's than Bull's.
