I was reading the post about the ESPN depth chart and i truly going by there lineups am not impressed with our SF situation. We have RICE starting? and off the Bench Nachbar? I love Nachbar but Rice will not produce hes just gona cash his money and dip Nachbar will need time to develope. So that means were gona have a major whole but dont worry i got the answere, two words Larry Hughes i heard hes a Free Agent? What do you all think?

First, our SF situation is not that bad. Rice is supposedly having a badass offseason, and he still has his range. Nachbar has been described as a Peja, meaning he has a deadly shot (I guess), but Nachbar also loves to run. So you have a veteran with a pure shot, and an athletic rookie with shot. I don't think we need another SF who needs 16-18 shots a game, and who is a horrible shooter anyways.

We have been given many reasons to trust Doc Rocket, so I take him at his word when he says Torres, Maddox and Brown are unlikely to make the roster. And we're not going into the season with only three guards on the roster, so there are apparently moves of some sort on the horizon. I doubt they will be for forwards. I'm surprised frankly that we aren't just going into the season with the roster we've got.

I like dreamcasting as much as the next guy, but improving our current squad (with cap and contract issues being what they are) seems next to impossible to me. And the continued interest in players like Hughes (who would be a marginal improvement at best) or Rashard (who creates enormous cap problems for us out of line with what he'd bring to the team) seem to indicate an irrational obsession with playing GM. Reminds me of hawkish right wingers after the cold war was over, looking for someone, anyone, to fight. We have actually achieved our objective. We're deep (and versatile) at every position. Enjoy it. I know I am.

I don't think we need to add another mobley to the team in hughes.

He's just a worse Mobley and he probably won't want to come to our team. He would be a terrible compliment to our other players. We would have a whole team who can only run the iso.

It's going to take Nachbar time to get used to NBA basketball, but I was impressed with the video highlights. He can finish around the basket with his dunks and shoots pretty well too. He will have to work hard on defense but I think he can contribute nicely on offense,T-Mo can come off the bench as the primary defender, and Rice can take Walt's role as a shooter. The situation at the SF looks pretty good all of a sudden after taking Nachbar.

If Hushes joins the Spurs, look for the Spurs to challenge the Lakers. Hughes' strengths are perfect for what San Antonio need. A penetrating guard. Also, with Dunacan and Robinson in the middle, he'll get WIDE open shots. SA need a big guard like him. It's a perfect match, and it akes all of Hughes' weaknesses vanish.

I'd like to think we're trading Mooch, KT and Rice for a SF. You think Seattle will do that for Rashard if he says he absolutely wants to be here? But then what about when Boki starts to bust out?

I'm really hoping we trade Mooch, KT, and one of these guys: Rice, MoT, Cato (if we get a C back ONLY).

    What's Odom available for now?

Well, we only have Forwards to send, so I guess not.

Anyone you guys had in mind? Ruben Patterson? I'd love to have him off the bench.

    Cato/ming
    MoT/Griff
    Boki/Patterson
    Mobley/Patterson
    Francis/whoever

VERY nice team, much improved D.

Don't underestimate Nachbar. That sucker can shoot and he has speed with a very quick step. He will make Rice look like he is standing still. Wait a minute Rice does stand still.

    :D :D :D :D :D

At this moment, I have no doubt that Boki will be the better player ina few years. In fact, the only thing Rashard does better right now, is rebound. Boki can do anything Rashard does. Even speak English.

We'd be idiots to trade for Lewis. Rice (for 20 minutes) backed up by Boki is perfect for us. The open 3-pt shooter is always there, and Boki actually blows by people and dunks.

    Rashard? Why?

After this season, if every offseason, we switch our worst player in the rotation with a better player (even slightly), then in around 3 years, we'll be major contenders. Imagine in 3 years:

    Ming 25
    Griffin 23
Boki Not sure, but early twenties
    Mobley 29
    Francis 27

    Thats a brilliant team.
