I don't know if all of you have heard the story yet ... but Chris Porter has accepted $2500 from an agent, and now his college career is almost assuredly over. He was being regarded as a top 10 pick in the draft, but now some are already stating that this incident may cause his stock to lower all the way to the second round. Now here's the question : Should the Rocks use a lower first round draft pick to pick up Porter, gamble that he'll be there in the 2nd round(fat chance) or pass on him all together. ------------------ Crisco melts in your mouth, not in your hands. Why in the world would this lower his draft status to the 2nd round? Jason Williams got kicked off the Florida team and he still ended up in the upper half of the lottery.
I'd have to agree that his draft status won't change a whole lot. When a player drops it's usually because of a last minute ordeal that scares teams away. It's the unknown factor that causes a player to drop. All the teams will have plenty of time to analyze Porter before the draft and come to an understanding of his situation. That eliminates the unknown factor. So if he falls I'd predict it's only one or two picks at most.
