Ok we have a very good starting five (tops in the NBA leveto(sp)...) We are solid at backup Center-Deke and Jake are both able to get the job done At the 4 we lack but when he makes his shots Howard can get it done for us. 123-Snyder/Head/Spanoulis/JL3 OK our eight man rotation has been the starters + Deke/Howard/Head this I agree with and I like the idea of Battier/Head/Alston getting open looks because of all the attention on Yao and Mac. C-Yao PF-Hayes Sf-Battier SG-T-Mac PG-Alston Bench-Head/Howard/Deke Active not playing-Snyder/Spanoulis/JL3/Jake Inactive-Sura/Wells/Novak My question is JVG will play Snyder at certain times depending on matchups and even JL3 will get a look from time to time if Luther (who I want on the court if he is hitting his shots) cant make a bucket how is Spanoulis not a better option against this Utah team. He can get to the hoop, man up on d and most important he can get to the line and not back down. If JL3 gets time against the Suns and Snyder will get time vs Mavs/Spurs etc. why don't we throw Billy at Utah and fight fire with fire when Luther can't hit a shot.
if he had all the benefits you claimed without the negative of turnovers, he'd play against everyone.. not just against utah.
that last game of the season he was playing with the summer league rockets. Put him in there with T-Mac, Yao, Battier and Hayes
Apr 18 @ UTA L 101-91 28 Mins 1-7FG 0-3 3PM-A 11-12 FTM-A 0 rebs 3 asts 1 steal 1 block 4 TO 6 PFs 13 PTS I don't think he is ready.
when Head and Deke cant catch a pass or be in the right spot to's will happen. Also 1-7 is overblown because he would of not taken some of those shots with t-mac on the floor. 12 FTA, 12!!!!!!1 That means he gets to the basket
What I don't get is why not give Snyder a look since Luther's been so craptastic? The past two games JVG has put Snyder in for only three minutes in the 2nd quarter. Why? Why do that if you're not going to give the guy you're putting on the floor a chance to produce? He really couldn't have been any worse than Luther last night. Seriously, watching Luther trying to guard Harpring was nauseating. I'm cool with giving Luther a few minutes at the point to rest Rafer but the Rafer/Head backcourt is a recipe for disaster.
Spanoulis is not a PG he is an undersized 2 guard. We already have one in Head who is a better spot up shooter.
The only bench player I would take a chance on giving more time to right now is Snyder. We need someone else who can attack the basket besides Yao and Tmac. And quite frankly neither of them is doing it very effectively. A third attacker could make things more difficult to the defense.
Agree, Utah has completely taken away Luther's 3pt shot all series. Why not give Snyder some more clock in defending Harpring and Girececk, also Snyder does have the ability to attack the basket unlike Luther who is strictly a 3pt shooter.
I don't think JVG will alter his rotation yet for this series... but if Rafer continues to struggle offensively, bringing in VSPAN would not be a bad idea. At least VSPAN will have some balls to take it to the hoop.
12 FTs for a Rookie is no joke. VSPAN has a much better feeling on the offense than JVG and Rafer. Vspan drives like a lion. He can finish and find the open men, Yao and TMAC, imagin when they are open........ You think Vspan plays with TMAC and Yao, Rockets will score less than 10 points a quarter?
Where do you play Snyder in the rotation? Obviously, you want McGrady and Battier on the floor for the most part. And Alston is our only true point guard, so he also needs to play big minutes. So, if you want to really take advantage of Snyder, that means you move Battier to the 4. Then, the problem is we're playing very small and that's not offset by us having superior three point shooting (since Snyder doesn't shoot threes well).
There is nothing wrong with the way Rafer has been playing the last 6 weeks. He does have some ups and downs but overall he has been solid. We are stuck with Howard (good Howard or Bad Howard) the Deke/Jake combo will give you whatever they give you. Novak should not see the floor and Lucus is very limited so it leaves us with Luther/Spanoulis/Snyder. Now Luther is playing like crap so either Spanoulis or Snyder needs to get looks if Head aint making three's because his d is terrible and he cant run the team.
thisthread is an underlying problem, looking for something to hold onto. vspan nor novak nor anyone else on the freaking bench would have done any better than the fantastic job that was displayed last night. to bring this old old idea that if vg would have developed said players, then rox would have had a chance. first of all, no way with them playing significant minutes during the year would the rockets would have HCA. vspan and novak would NOT have saved a thing last night or any part of this season. the bench is what it is and rox will live and die by it, and it isn't because VG has been shortsighted not to use vspan or novak. as far as snyder i concerned, he IS NOT a PG. he is also not a good decision maker. the ONLY thing guy has for him is is athleticism. and if you think he's going to get 10 dunks per gam because of yao, you're in lala land. rox need a PG and someone who can take pressure off of yao and tmac, and snyder is MOST DEFINITELY NOT THAT MAN. by all means play him more, but it isn't going to translate into the fairy godmother
How the hell would you or anyone else know when he has pretty much never played with Tmac and Yao all season long? The others group that was on the floor and scored 10 have performed better than that all season.
