lol. yes, it's "fun" to point out situational hitting. bats haven't been the problem at all, just a fun little coincidence for the idiots among us to mistakenly cite as our downfall. getting more runs home and giving the bullpen bigger cushions and creating less high leverage situations for them couldn't possibly make a difference.

would you rather go into next season with the exact same bats or the exact same pen?

Don't think I'm saying our lineup is perfect. But there are times, like Wednesday for instance, where we DO get the "big hit" and it still is for naught because the bullpen blows it. And there are other times where the bullpen has put a game seemingly out of reach, and we rally back to ultimately lose by one.

With the exception of the incredibly hot teams (Rangers!), every single fanbase can moan about situational hitting. Teams will fail the vast majority of the time at this, that is baseball. But it is not crazy to expect a bullpen to hold a lead fairly consistently.

Our bullpen has been in the game ONCE this month where they have been asked to hold a small lead and succeeded. They have failed every other time. That is insanity.

Interestingly, we were 11-13 last year in September. 7-14 so far this one.

The word "collapse" isnt so far fetched if your trying to make the case we are a better team than last year.

I like everything. My first thought is a gourmet dog, but I have no idea what other foods they offer...

Gormet dogs are on the first level concourse. I love the gormet nachos they have on the concourse as well. I think its on the first bass side of the stadium. Also check out the Nolan Ryan grill station on the first base side as well.

Well so far it seems like the stros weren't ready for September ball . It's funny how being in a different position can effect performance. Didn't the stros play well last September ? I'm sure the strength of schedule was around equal .... Also it's not like the other teams weren't trying to win .

We need to make some moves.
    Closer, 1b, 3b, LF

What are we going to do with Gattis? I think Tucker is good enough to fight for the DH spot but Gattis is young and last year had an .810 OPS with Atlanta. Can he rebound?

Rotation i think should stay the same, but you have Appel, Feldman and VV fighting for the 5th spot. If VV loses, will he become the closer or set up man?

Luthnow is a great GM, he will make the right moves.

Gattis is 29. Not exactly a young cub. Not old but not young either. 30 next August.

Tucker is 25. 26 next July.

Wow, then is a no brainer, Tucker.

Wait, is not a no brainer, Hinch has not used Tucker as DH for Gattis this year in more than 2 games?

I'm not sold on lunhow . If we don't make the playoffs next year ( barring catastrophic injuries) then he is on the hot seat . The Astros need more experience just as much as they need moves to be made . Springer and correa can turn into a fielder beltre force ... And for us to compete they might have to .

The rotation has lots of great options but health is never guaranteed . Keuchel and Mchugh and hopefully McCullers seem to have the makings of a great rotation core . I like the young arms we have , but we will not be able to rely on them deep into the season due to innings concerns .

Agree that the corner spots need something done to them . Maybe we look in house first ? I don't follow the league outside the stros enough to come up with legitimate options for trade targets or FA .
