I saw on the news that a Hispanic couple was upset that "Hispanic couple" appeared on their bill. The restaurant uses descriptions to identify customers when its crowded. One, how is this offensive? It's not like the restaurant used a derrogatory term. Two, why was this on the news? It's a non-story.

Anyways, I laughed twice cause the Hispanic couple complained and ended up getting a free meal. No tip for the waitress.

Are the waiters at the restaurant unable to use numbers to identify tables now?

    "Hispanic?" much?

Were they only Hispanic looking couple in the restaurant? To them, it might look like the restaurant's perspective was they're serving "them dark folk" over there. If Hispanic couples was a common thing there, why the need to identify like that? Or maybe the 1 server only served tables with non-Hispanics all day and the couple stood out from the rest by their appearance.

But yeah, just write up a bad review of them online or something. Complain to the manager. Keep it local, dont try to make it national like they got their rights denied.

If you are white, you have never felt the burden of racial profiling. I don't necessarily agree with the Hispanic couple making a stink about it but I understand why they did. Maybe I would have done the same thing depending on the situation.

The story is posted online now:

The restaurant may be stupid for not using a better method, but I still don't think it was racist.

Looks like the restaurant actually didn't pick up the check. Probably not a smart move, although I think the lady is overreacting.

Couple gets bad service at sports bar a month ago. And this is newsworthy because......

Channel 13 will probably lead off with it tonight.

That's not necessarily true about white people not being racially profiled but I agree with what you're saying.

I would be bothered if I were them. I probably would just never gone back. They may be using it to just identify them, or maybe they treat Hispanics differently than they do whites. IDk, but it is definitely stupid of the bar.

I mean, I'd be weary of it. What if the cook hates hispanic people?

what are the chances a cook at a sports bar isnt hispanic? or atleast, surrounded by them in the kitchen? :)

Getting upset over this is pretty silly.

As long as they weren't discriminated against, or denied equal treatment I don't see the problem.

So this lady is saying its not okay to describe someone using their race? What if she's fat...can I call her fat?

Nope, fat people easily get offended if you call them fat. Or imply it's their fault for not taking care of themselves.

I've seen this on several different dance floors in Houston. :p ^^^^^

This is just stupid in my opinion. Stupid to complain about it and stupid that they actually left this on the bill.
