Apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so in this thread,

Maybe YOU need to learn how to read.

I'm fine with people who disagree with me. You didn't disagree with me you insulted my character.

Mr. Meowgi asked me a question and I attempted to answer. He didn't call me an idiot for thinking a certain way. He asked a hypothetical question and I've attempted to answer the best way possible.

What YOU did was look at ONE post out of context and assume I meant giving money to starving children was tantamount to buying a Rockets ticket when a quick glance at the WHOLE thread would have informed you that I was in fact comparing sending a brick to congress to the Rockets ticket. You took what I said out of context and refuse to admit so.

It seems to me the problem is that there are very rich greedy people. You can't have the starving poor without them. There is no profit to be made by feeding them. The profits are to be made by producing weapons for war etc. I think our consumption habits and every little thing we do contributes to thousands of people starving daily.

Guess what? The facts are there, it's in writing for everyone to see.

I didnt take anything out of context, I read the whole thread, and what you implied by your first post is that you would think it is a waste of money to help the poor, and then tried to cover it up with your second post.

Maybe I may have come down a little hard on you, but I think that joke was inappropriate, if you have seen in the horrors in Africa or other starved countries you would understand.

I just dont think it is something that should be taken lightly.

And I need to stress this, I took nothing out of context, nor did I put words in your mouth.

I don't deny that we contribute to some of it. However, when we donate billions of dollars to the area for aid and most of it doesn't reach the people who need it the most, who's to blame there? The donators or the distributors?

Are we supposed to continually throw money at the problem?

First of all, yes you did. Let's take a look back:

    I replied to that with:

    Notice adeel's last line.

The "this" in my last sentence refers to the "brick donation" which if you remember is in the title of the thread. Now if YOU misinterpreted what I wrote, I guess I'll apologize. However, I find it to be quite clear what I meant.

And for the record, I HAVE seen the horrors of hunger in other countries. Thank you for making ANOTHER assumption about my character without even knowing the facts. I'm not taking it lightly. My joke was in reference to the sending of a brick. If you think joking about a brick is taking the hunger problem lightly, that's not my problem, it's yours. None of the other posts I've made about the topic have joked about world hunger so I don't see where else you would get that assumption. If I were really the a-hole you claim I am, I would have joked about it in every response, no?

It's not a solution, but someone really hungry would be grateful so I don't think it's a waste.

Very true. However, what do we tell that person the next time? Sorry, we have to let you die because we've already helped you...?

I think a solution to the problem is what the people really need and want. Remember the old saying about giving a man a fish and teaching him to fish.

    1. I don't think there is an end to helping people.

    2. the problem is that some people horde the fish then and pollute the lake.

    1. This is the sad reality. You are dead on here. I guess I just prefer to give help to the areas that will make the most of it.

    2. True. I see the corrupt officials of the governments of the areas as the biggest of the horders (if that's a word).

Interesting observation. I don't think I really changed my opinion, though.

screw sendabrick.com, if you really want to make a statement go to:
www.shizagram.com then your feeling on any matter will be smelt and seen.

I am sure if a congressman or senator got 100,000 shizagrams he would change his mind! :D

im sure we could do a lil more with 2 trillion than just help africa for a year. im sure if you gave two trillion dollars to a well run group organized by the UN it would ensure africa will be good for over a year.

and thats different from afghanistan how?

you dont feed hungry people? i guess your values are different than mine. yes if next month i have another 10 dollars ill give that to hungry people as well. the cycle continues on, the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, only way to make it a little better is for the better off to help the poor. not to buy bricks.

I never said I don't feed hungry people. I said I don't know how simply giving them money is going to solve the problem of hunger. I don't give money to people who don't help themselves, it's just a personal preferences.

And I know you're joking but again, I never said I was going to send a brick.

Isn't the whole thing with illegal immigrants about people trying to help themselves and getting out of poverty?
