    This is HUGE NEWS:

Senate passes resolution calling for whistleblower complaint to be given to Congress

The US Senate voted unanimously today for the whistleblower complaint to be provided to Congress, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer tweeted.

"That means every GOP Senator supports the whistleblower report being immediately provided to the Senate and House Intel Committees," the New York Democrat said.
    Here's the tweet:

    BIG:

The Senate by unanimous consent passed my resolution calling for the whistleblower complaint to be provided to Congress as required by law.

That means every GOP Senator supports the whistleblower report being immediately provided to the Senate and House Intel Committees.

The fact that they are saying the complaint MUST be turned over is huge, because it means that the full story will come out and we will not have to deal with a redacted or reduced transcript - hell Trump might even give the wrong call's transcript.....

Means we will get to know what exactly was in the Whistle blowers report, and the breadth and scope of the allegations and whether it constitutes high treason, or is impeachable.

And the Senate FINALLY will be forced to act - one way or the other.

    prepare for sharpiegate2.0

I know it's big, and it's a start... i'm just not holding my breath on it becoming anything because they've (the GOP) have had plenty of opportunities to stand up for what is right and have chosen time and time again to stand behind him. I just doubt very very seriously this is the tipping point.

I agree, the Senate will not do it, but the House can frame it as - we did our jobs - the senate is the problem vote them out.......

As long as he actually did ask for them to help him by investigating Biden - that will be key.

I think it would be a huge win if the Senate even holds their own inquiry, people forget that Mitch can just decide not to do it. So people need to put the pressure on Moscow Mitch.

True, but if he DOESN'T do it after the House votes to Impeach he will be toast - I don't think he can last without doing his job - if he stonewalls, they can impeach him as well.

Why would GOP senators vote for this resolution?

It's going to depend on how bad this all it, the GOP has to see it as a way to dump him, that they party can't move forward with him, this has to be toxic to them.

I do think it is pretty big that they are curious about it at least.

Good question, law of the land has never stopped them before.

    Edit: grammar

Exactly. Blame the Senate for not doing their jobs. All anyone can do is their job.

Based on the timing the WH must have shared what they believe is "explainable" evidence of no wrong doing to Moscow Mitch.

Sorry to burst your bubble but its just a nonbinding resolution.

This is another cynical calculus for Moscow Mitch to not waste capital now so as to obstruct and interfere later and get some more buy in then, and to make his bid to control the narrative

So goes the mind of the official grave digger for the murder of Democracy

This is the bare minimum that the Senate can do ethically wise. This isn't bad news but it isn't exactly a sea change.
I will say again that we don't know what will happen given how much things seem to change daily. Again Nixon's support was very strong up until it wasn't.

A skeptic view - They can bill barr the compliant, confuse the public, point out that DEM isn't really interested in the release of the redacted complaint and thus is only playing politic

Most republican voters approved of Nixon even as he left office, FWIW. We’ve always been a tribal people.

My guess is that the acting DNI told the White House & the GOP that he wasn't going to be able to hold the line on withholding the complaint past Wednesday before his hearing on Thursday, and this is essentially a show vote so they can claim they still have some ounce of integrity.

The Senate Republicans and everyone at the DOJ knew the withholding was against the law, and they had no choice. A judge was going to quickly order this released and publicly scold the DOJ about disobeying the law that is as clear as day.
