Alright folks, April has come. I haven't had much luck yet, so I'm coming to CC.net, seeing if y'all can help me out. In May, I'll be graduating from St. Mary's University with a BBA in MIS and a minor in Business Administration. I'm looking for an entry-level job in the Houston Area. Preferably in the area of IT or Business Administration. My strongest areas are in combining IT and Business and in Public Speaking. I'm very good at giving presentations to boards, and in doing Business Analysis. And so, I've come to you all, needing some help to find a job . . . I've done the whole online thing, I've called around, sent my resume out, etc. I'm really disappointed in the lack of responses. My GPA is 3.35 with a 3.8 in major, and I'm a finalist for the Presidents' award -- the highest honor a graduating senior can attain. I write astounding essays and poignant memos. I've earned my degree in 3 years, and have been very active in campus organizations and volunteer activities. I co-founded a non-profit organization, and ran a tutoring service. I NEED A JOB!!! I'm not sure if there are any openings right now, but I started my illustrious career in IT at AIM funds in Houston. It is a great company with great benefits in a Greenway Plaza location. They usually recruit at local universities for IT Boot Camp. It's a program where new hires spend six weeks (or more?) rotating through the different IT workgroups, then at the end you pick where you want to work (or someone picks you). You could probably submit a resume online (aimfunds.com) for consideration after graduation. Good Luck! ------------------ Brought to you by the letter M.
Do you have any relevant work experience? How about any industry certifications? ------------------ stop posting my damn signature
Certifications: I was going to go for a bunch of them this past year (MCSE, LPI and A+), but when I talked to career services, and some of my professors, they said "oh, don't pay for it yourself . . . the best thing to do is to get a job with someone, then have THEM pay for it" . . . well, that appears to have been crummy advice IMO. I could probably take the A+ and pass today, but MCSE, etc. I need to study for. Experience: My professional experience is mostly in PC hardware. I was a PC Technician at Lightspeed Systems, and I got lots of experience in all kinds of things, including phone support and on-site support as well as sales. I have experience in website development, and in database management as well. I'd say my strongest suit is DEFINATELY PC hardware, but I learn very quickly. ------------------ "Up and down, inside out, outside in, some you lose some you win" -- DMB -> "Sweet Up and Down"
