With Muslims, is there not a declared jihad? Doesn't that put any "Death to America" chants in a completely different context? I reckon they may have been chanting Death To America for decades somewhere but it has only been since the activity has ramped up and climaxed on 9/11 that it has gotten much attention because the threat now is known to have teeth.

I'm not saying that the Tea Partiers are controlled by Republicans; I'm just acknowledging the statistical fact that most members are dis-affected Republicans but all members are dis-affected somebodies. It's a movement of discontent.

On top of all your other fine character traits, you are a selective and arbitrary pedant when it suits you. Good to know.

You are a true gem of a human being, giddyup.

You are such a hypocrite. Most of your replies to me are nothing but personal insults and you whine when I strike back...

We don't know one another but I am tired of you insulting me when I don't agree with you on some matter.

I've got clients who love me, a horde of friends who love me, a wife who loves me, four kids who love me... shall I go on?

What in the HELL are you trying to prove by trying to bring me or anyone else down unprovoked? Get a life.

There is no central Muslim organization so any declared Jihad isn't something that most Muslims recognize or follow. Your statement here essentially shows that you yourself feel free to paint Muslims with a broad brush.

As far as Muslims chanting "Death to America" for decades Right Wingers have been been distrustful of the Federal government and working to oppose it for decades. As you note OK City happened 15 years ago but the Militia movement has been active since the 1970's. You can even say that such movements have been active for centuries considering the rhetoric of the Tea Party is similar to that of Shay's Rebellion.

The differences you paint regarding Muslims and Rightwingers doesn't seem like much of a difference and if anything the history of Rightwing violence and angry rhetoric towards the US is older than Muslim.

With that then why do you feel that Muslims chants of "Death to America" are somehow more serious than those of Rightwingers?
Fair enough but I don't see how that pertains to this discussion. Dissaffection doesn't mean they are any less prone to violence in fact dissafection often makes one more prone to violence.

I didn't even see a personal insult. What I saw was pedantry in the service of obfuscation.

    Awesome.

By your logic, Eva Braun, the Goebels family, and an entire group of fanatics loved Adolph so he must have been a good guy, right?

The beautiful thing about the internet is that the only thing that shows is the things inside of you that you choose to let out. Your twisted logic which lets you defend redneck rightwing racists but (and this is the truly unique and enjoyable part) take offense at the exact same behavior from anybody else is all that I see.

I only judge you on the basis of what you show me. And what you show me is pretty damn ugly.

Its best not to judge people at all when you know next to nothing about them. Its very easy to get the wrong impression on what type of person someone is based on internet commentary. Beliefs aren't always easy to express, but its very easy for others to twist them into something grotesque.

I was just trying to help you breathe. What was I covering up? I rest my case: you came out of the blue here and wanted to demean me for my opinion about something. Then you want to go and characterize the features of my life which you are totally clueless about. That kind of desperate game says a lot about you. At least I'm only hitting back...

Granted it's a tough situation. Are there more Timothy McVeighs or Mohammed Attas in the world? Has there been more violence against civilians perpetrated by McVeighs or Attas?

The "Death to America" has been problematic in England, France, Spain, Denmark... you get the picture?

It's more like "America is Dying" rather than "Death To America" here and it affects no one abroad.

The scale of the problem is just nowhere near close.

For which threat is the world on watch?

    Activity.

What can I say: just look at what is going on in the world and count the results.

    really?

There were like 10 post in a row about how inconsistent you were, and your response is to make a big deal out of a typo. Though I guess apparently you thought you were insulting me? To me it appeared you were trying to brush aside all the people calling out your inconsistencies. Live and learn. From now on I will assume malice instead of ham-handiness.

I was the one who brought up? I specifically stated that I am only able to judge you by the words you use, after you went on a diatribe about how all your friends prove that you are a fine upstanding human being. I've only ever made judgments on the basis of the words you type. You are the one seeking to find justification in all sorts of bizarre, unrelated qualities that I know nothing about as seen below:

Man, you can't even be honest with yourself, I guess.

As long as you say tea partiers can threaten the president, but nobody else can, and you make up bizarre, convoluted logical structures to "prove" that one is OK while the other is pure evil, I will continue to make fun of you. I can't help it. I'm a sucker for people who cover their bias in a thin shellacking of retrofitted logic. It is a flaw in my character. When I was a kid, I always used to pick at the one spot on the wall where the paint had started to flake off.

I don't even know to what you are referring. I'm The Broken Record.

You sarcastically called me "a gem of a human being" first. Just go back and re-read; it's plain as day.

Since you "beg off" judging my words and we've never met or talked, how are you judging me at all... on what basis?

    Come again?

    Huh?

That seems pretty clear to me. Let me know if it is really too confusing for you. And, for the record, the human being that I see via the words you use is indeed a true "gem".

The correct answer is there has been more violence to civilians by the US government.

If you want to talk about intentional violence to civilians then nationalists/separatists would be the number one group as far as number of terrorist attacks. Muslims don't comprise a majority of the terrorist attacks.

giddy, my friend, why don't you do yourself a favor and not post in basso's threads. They are an insult to anyone of intelligence, from either side and The Middle (Earth, I wish!), and are posted simply to piss a lot of people off. Coming into his threads the way you have in this one almost assures that you are going to be conversing with a bunch of justifiably angry people, some of whom might consider themselves conservatives, but find what basso is doing to be despicable. People who, in a different setting, might disagree, but in calmer manner. Were I you, I'd pick a fight in a thread where the response isn't going to be so predictable and precisely what basso wants.

Just my thoughts. I'm putting basso on ignore, which will make him the only member there. This has gotten completely out of hand. He's trying to anger people for his own pleasure. A sick, twisted way of thinking, in my opinion. You anger people with opinions they find... OK, I won't say how they find your opinions, but those opinions are not made simply from a sense of malice. They are your own, and not expressed to anger anyone, whether that happens, or not. basso is a clown who stopped being funny long ago. Try not to try slap on some of his makeup, if you can. I'm sorry you had a very serious form of cancer a while back. It's nothing to be made fun of. A close family member of mine started chemo Wednesday. None of that is "funny."

Take care and I'll see you in another thread. I'm done with this one.

Okay, I mis-read the third point. What about the first two?

You sarcastically called me a "gem" and you never showed me how anyone was citing me as inconsistent.... I'd be interested in seeing to what you are referring.

I knew you'd bring up the war...

I'm only comparing the Muslim and the American terrorists for the sake of this discussion. That one's not even close...

Inconsistent in the fact that racists are just joshing when they say they want to "kill the n***r in the White House", while if you are brown skinned, an ill timed sneeze indicates a treasonable act of perfidy against the United States.

I will say that you are indeed consistent in your inconsistency if that makes you feel better.
