That sucks cause I think the crowd helped us win against the Raptors. We need more sell-out crowds to win more home games. If people want their team to win they need to go to the games!

Tickets have been moving pretty well the last several days, but there are still plenty of good seats available.

Couldn't agree with your sentiment more -- have you bought your tickets yet?

Don't forget Hakeem's jersey retirement Saturday night, either.

    Are you spamming us?;) :D

Man, I wanted to go to the retirement game but I am going on vacation in two weeks and need to get a lot of stuff done. I wished I lived in Houston.

Heh. I almost felt compelled to put a "this message brought to you by ....." line in there when I wrote that.

I have no shame. If somebody convinced me that wearing a sandwich board up and down Richmond Avenue would sell out the building, I'd be out there in the rain walking around with it right now.

Strong fan support helps the team win, which helps get more fans, which ....

It's a nice loop we'd all like to be on. Whatever we can do from a marketing and sales standpoint to accelerate the process -- great.

    Tim

    P.S. -- Buy your darned tickets. ;)

Dude, you really need to walk up and down Richmond with a sandwich board!! If you do that, I'll be there with you to wear it when you want to take a break!!

I'm sure I can round up a few fans to cheer you along!!

    :D

I stay in Malaysia. Just wondering how much does a game ticket cost? and how much does a season ticket cost? cos for me, If I am staying in Houston, I will definitely go to the game everyday.

It will be a lot better than being online for every game just to follow all the live scoreboard or clutchcity gametime chat room.....

you can get tickets as cheap as $10.
so figure $10 multiplied by how many game they offer in season tickets packaged. they offer mini season ticket packages also.

go to http://www.rockets.com for season ticket info

They said it was a sell out. So who was sitting in all those empty seats? Of coarse, they must have all been up at the concessions stand enjoying the wonderful Compaq Center food.

Keep in mind there is a huge difference between the “Drop Count” which is the actual number of tickets torn and “Tickets Out” which is all tickets printed and not used.

They never report the “Drop Count” , how could they? If they did they would have to admit that ticket sales are even worse than the media repots it to be.

Nice try rockets…. You have a long way to go! I guess you have 11 months to figure it out.

11 year old, they report the actual attendance every night, which is what you refer to as drop count. There are counters at the door, dumbass, and yes everybody knows that some tickets are held by brokers and some by season ticket holders that couldn't make it.

    Get out here hater.

Umm...if every ticket is sold or there are nothing but singles, it is a sell out, correct? So what is up with the hate I sense from 11? Judging from his other post, I see the ban stick making it's way to his IP soon.

Hey, I'm all about supporting the team. I've been a season ticket holder for 11 years now. Just looking for honest reporting of the facts. You know what I'm talking about if you are a season ticket holder.

Calling MR TIM....(er...er this is timm!!!).
I am always confused about attendance. Whats the real definition when the announcers say xxx attendance.

Is it tickets torn, tiuckets printed or tickets sold or some other measure.

Okay, a couple of different questions here.

Saturday was a sellout by the conventional definition, meaning that there were only scattered single seats available. That's almost always the case with sellouts -- very seldomly do all the singles sell. (Go figure ... most people want to sit near someone they know.) If teams only announced sellouts when every single seat sold ... there would be very few sellouts ever announced. Those singles are VERY hard to sell.

Announced attendance (what appears in the paper) is all tickets that have gone out -- it includes all tickets sold plus staff tickets, etc.

Drop count (a number that teams don't release) is the number of people who actually came into the arena. People who buy a ticket but don't use it are called no-shows. They show up in announced attendance, but not in the drop count.

The empty seats 11yr is referring to were no-shows, which exist in every arena in the NBA. It's something we try to minimize, but it always exists at some level. Most no shows are typically season ticket holders, so their empty seats will be most noticeable in the lower bowl between the baselines, since those are the sections with the highest percentage of season ticket holders.
