My girlfriend and I are going to Seattle for the first time in April. We're staying in Belltown but want to visit pubs and restaurants out of the area. I've been told that I don't need a rental car to get around town ($19 per day for parking at my hotel). My question is do I really need a rental car while I'm in Seattle? I'm renting a car for two days to go to Whidbey Island but that's all. I'm just wondering about transportation in the city and ease of getting around. I'm not opposed to renting a car, I just don't want to pay for the car and parking if it's not necessary. Thanks in advance! cmiller
Last time I was there without a car, I was waiting over 20 minutes for a bus in downtown at 10AM on a weekday. I saw a Zipcar parking lot across the street, reserved one on my iPhone, and used it for the day. I'd say a car would make things much easier. Remember, Seattle is no where near as urban as NY, Chicago, DC, SF, etc.
I did. I meant that I saw the Zipcar parking lot from the bus stop. Tired of waiting, I just hopped in the Zipcar instead.
you can take the light rail from the airport to westlake and walk the last mile to belltown. enough buses to get you around or cab it. how long you staying?
I was there during the summer and walked most everywhere. I took the train from the airport to downtown, where I stayed, that was it.
