OXYMORONS 101: You entertained me, sir, so I thought I'd share with the folks around this here forum...
How does the fact that people ride on motorcycles make not wearing your seatbelt any less reckless? That kind of thinking is just you trying to rationalize doing something stupid. People like yourself who consciously choose not to buckle up end up costing others in taxes and health insurance every year, so don't be surprised that you are given a hard time about it.
I believe you must ensure passengers under 16 (sitting next to you) are buckled. Other then that wear one, but if someone doesn't he/she shouldn't get a ticket.
some people just like to rebel against every law or good advice. wear ur seat belt. it's a simple and painless process that can save ur life. it's a good thing the cars continue to bother people about it also with the annoying beeps and dings.
Always in the front. I'm uncomfortable without it. Feels like I'm naked. Some of you crack me up. I get the feeling that if it were illegal to WEAR a seatbelt, some of you would wear it just to stick it to The Man. LOL.
Exactly how I feel. I have absolutely no problem with people getting a ticket for not wearing one. I always put mine on as soon as I start driving. However, a couple of years back I drove out of a parking lot onto a street and still had not put it on for some inexplicable reason and got a ticket. I deserved it.
Mostly. Yeah, I said it, mostly... and by that I mean 90%+. But if you weren't wearing yours I wouldn't think it should require police intervention and a $200 fine to "teach you a lesson" or "condition you properly." Just my two cents. People, and government, are just too caught up in telling/forcing everyone else how to live their own lives these days, in my opinion. Seat belts are good.
no, it's more like making money of peoples stubborn behavior. helps pay for fixing potholes and street lights.
I wrote never, because I never drive a long enough distance for me to buckle up. Now, when I go on long-ass trips then I buckle up... especially if it requires me to get on the highway... But, since most of my trips consist of taking slow-ass local road, I think I'll pass on the seatbelt for now.
I always wear a seatbelt and make my passengers in the backseat wear them too. People always resist when I tell them to wear their seatbelt. I don't understand why people are so anti-seatbelt. Your chances of getting killed/inured in an accident are many times more if you don't wear a seatbelt. One of my high school classmates and one of my fraternity brothers died from not wearing a seatbelt, while all the other passengers in their respective accidents had minor or no injuries. If you want to live, wear your seatbelt.
That's true, but...you have to go out of your way to ride a motorcycle. Or smoke. Or drink habitually. Or auto-erotic asphyxiation. The seatbelt is right freaking there. Right there. You could mince it all down for eternity- that's what the D&Ders do. What you eat, how you live, etc. Something is going to kill you! But hell, I'd rather die in my sleep than be a quadriplegic for the rest of my life because I was making a point to the do-gooders by not wearing a seatbelt.
Yes there is a difference... I feel more protected in the back... I don't really give a **** if it's a law...
To be honest a seat-belt won't save you if the collision is bad enough... don't focus on the seat-belt, focus on not getting in a car accident in the first place. The seat-belt does not make you impervious to head-on collisions.
