Sean Singletary

hes not better than brooks right now but maybe better than the brooks we had coming out of college last year, but i do agree to give him a chance in camp and allow him to push brooks

 

I'm not sure if he's better than Aaron Brooks, but I'd much rather have Sean over Aaron, simply because it shows Sean is a natural PG while Brooks is somewhat shoot-first.

 

It's not fair to compare numbers. Brooks had an Elite Eight squad his senior year, and Singletary was a man on an island whose team did not make the tournament his last year. That Oregon squad ended up getting two more players drafted (Malik Hairston and Maarty Leunen) the year after Brooks left, while UVA had none. Long story short, Oregon had more success and more talent than UVA, so of course Brooks numbers would be diminished a bit as a result of sharing the load.

That's not to say that Singletary might not end up being better, I'm just saying we can't tell from the numbers.

 

Don't forget the Porter dude that was a freshman when AB was a senior. Stats can be overrated when comparing two players in two very different situations.

 

He is a very good player but AB has a guaranteed deal and sometimes you win out on that basis alone like Mike Harris after preseason last year, I'm not saying thats the case here, but very rarely do teams wanna cut a guy with a guaranteed deal and eat his salary, I was really shocked we did it last year with Justin Reed. Im not saying we'd cut brooks I'm sure he has value but we don't have room for someone like singletary, it would be nice though

I prefer to sign Jr Ewing who is patrik Ewing 's son.at least that guy can bring us more help from his legend father and attract some attention from the Ewing fans.Ewing may escape from the magics and sign wiht rockets again as a center trainer ,with the help of the Ewing our young center Dorsey may make some breakthroughs in his skill and then make more contributions to our team.

 

I still want to trade Alston and every other PG for a consistent gamer. Throw in Hayes, Harris, whatever we have to do to prevent the other teams from forcing RA to beat them. THAT WILL BE THE GAME PLAN THE ENTIRE YEAR for the other teams after all.

 

Singletary has a guaranteed contract btw. We cut Jackie Butler and Gerald Green last season both with guaranteed contracts. Both contracts larger than Justin Reeds was.

 

Singletary's contract is only partially guaranteed if he gets cut before opening night. What's guaranteed could be from between 250K to what Mike Harris got last training camp.

you want a guy to take up a roster spot just cause it might bring in an extra trainer who can help a bench player in Dorsey. He averaged 6.1 pts 4.2 rebs 0.7 blks per game in his senior year.
