I live in an apartment complex overlooking a busy highway intersection, and I am therefore exposed to many car-crashes. Yesterday there was a crash involving severe neck injuries and major car damage. Today there was a huge fender-bender involving, well, a complete scumbag. I have seen the results of about 20 accidents in the three years I have lived here, and I have rarely seen things as sickening as this...
Today a car was stopping at a light, when another car slammed into the rear of it. Basically the entire back of the car was falling off. Well, the victims were just getting out of the damaged car, when the person that hit them sped away. I'm sure a couple thousand dollars worth of damage was done, yet this prick just sped off without even thinking. These poor people are going to have to pay some rediculous insurance prices, because some idiot couldn't live up to his mistake.
So have any of you witnessed or been victims of this type of prickiness?

Why bother posting at all? I asked a serious question, and you come up with a moronic response like that. And I could say the same thing about you.

Some b*stard rear ended my girlfriend's car, a Mazda Protege, about 2 years ago on 610 near San Felipe, pushing her into the car in front of her. Then the culprit turned right to run, hit a new Mercedes and sped off down the enbankment. They guy in the Mercedes followed him, but lost him. Unfortunately they never found the dick.

When I was 19, a friend and I were out late (around 2:00 AM) when a policeman stopped me for no real reason. After letting me go, I was driving my friend home when I went through a green light. I looked up right as a guy was exiting off of the loop, he ran his red light and rammed into me. I spun around a few times and ended up on the esplanade. He sped off. Needless to say, the cop who had just stopped me was close behind and was able to stop the jerk. He was charged with DUI, running a red light, hit and run and numerous other charges. The car he was driving "wasn't his" and he did not know where his friend lived who "loaned" him the car. I never did find out the eventual outcome of the case but I hope they threw the book at him. I ended up needing stitches for a head wound, while my friend escaped with a bruised hip. My 67 Mustang was totalled.

Once these guys hit me in an intersection. It was the 3rd time I had been hit in 3 months! I was on my lunch break and really didn't want to wait for the police. I already had two insurance checks covering the previous damages so I really didn't care. I told the guys it was cool and we drove off. I ate lunch for about 40 minutes then got back on the freeway. I noticed a black Caprice tailgating me, then a few minutes later, a Sherrifs' Caprice with his lights flashing behind me. I pulled over for both Caprices. The officer asks me if I had been in a wreck, I asked,"when?" since, I had been in 3! He thought I was being smart and asked me to get out of the car. So explain your story to me, he said. Just then the other sherrif comes up to me and screams in my face "BOY, who tha F*$K do you think you are?! What tha F*$K do you think yer doin'" Before I knew it I was in the back of a Sherrifs car with two more HPD cop cars around me. The guys that hit me obviously ran to the police and said I had hit and run them. SCUMBAGS! Oh, the cops where the most redneck people I had ever met. (I almost posted this story in yesterdays "Race" thread.) I never have been prejudicial of police and,in fact, welcome them and their protection. Fortunately I saw their ignorance by the way they were speaking to me and "Yessired" my way out of the cop car and possible jailtime for hit and run and into several hundereds of dollars in tickets and fines. SCUMBAGS! Moral of the story: Always stop and trade info at an accident, no matter what. Always say yessir to cops who seem mad at life.

    I can see it now: "Iraq being Bombed;
Babies out of Wedlock; Bush has a big State Address....Comments?" We already have a McLaughlin here. lol!

First thing you should ALWAYS call the cops and get a report. After that, immediately call YOUR insurence company and give them your input, followed by their insurence company.(regardless who's fault it is)

About 4 years ago i was driving down 528 in friendswood and a minivan in front of me slammed on his breaks. I missed hitting him by a couple inches! Then this fine ass beamer hit me from behind and we pulled off to the side (there was construction at the time) Out came a very distraught Moses Malone Jr. He bearly hit me but it popped out his headlight in his car. He had a fine ass white chick in the car with him and she looked really annoyed. I made him trade all info and he was very corapative about it. (I was 18 at this time) After I got home, I told my mom and she called up our insurence agent and let them know what happened. It turns out he had the same agent as we did. He ended up going home and telling mommy and daddy that someone busted his headlight out with a bat and they proceded to make a claim. I find it amusing that this spoiled brat got busted!

I've never been in or seen an accident where someone tried to leave the scene.

I've only been in a couple of accidents (one in Houston when I drove down to see Enron Field. Everybody was so nice. The tow truck guy took me to the game and offered to come back and pick me up after the game to take me to the airport. The body shop guys were very nice. The police who came to the scene were all extremely polite and very nice. And the fella that rearended me was so apologetic. Even the guy's insurance company was really nice. Who says people in big cities aren't nice anymore?)

My other accident was not as good an experience. When I was in high school, I was driving my friend home from school. I had stopped on a residential street waiting for a car to pass from the other direction so I could turn into my friend's driveway. For some reason, the car coming the other way ended up turning right into me and slammed into the front of my car. This being Amarillo, I got the ticket for causing the accident (failure to control speed. One would think that being stopped was about as in control as one could be in terms of his speed, but I had long hair and a Trans Am, while the other driver was a young lady with a short skirt.) My insurance company refused to pay for her car, and they paid for repairs to mine. Sometimes even when you're not wrong, you end up having to pay.

Terrible stories by all. I have one to add. I went to a college party in Denton and parked on the street. I was drinking beer and filling up at the keg when I heard my new car's alarm going off. So, I figured it was somebody who accidentally set it off walking by or something. I "scanned" my car and didn't notice any damage. At the time, this pick-up truck was speeding off from near my car and I just didn't think anything of it. I went back to the party and continued partying it up. Later, I got in my new car and drove home. The next morning, I woke up and realized that some a-hole had backed into my car and put a big dent in it. I was pissed off and would love to punch the **** out of that person who did that. It ended up costing me a $500 deductible on a new car. Not one of my better days. Plus, you have to file a police report and do all this crappy paperwork on a hit-and-run. It sucked.

Oh, there was this time when I still had my truck and was living in Denton. I was backing up while trying to leave, and I backed into a car that was parked behind me. The alarm started going off on the car, so I panicked and sped off. I think I may have done some damage to the car (at least a dent), but there's just nothing I can do about it now. If only there was some way I could find that guy and apologize.

(By the way, I am kidding. Though I did briefly live in Denton, I never backed into anyone's car).

    Juan,

A troll is bbs lingo for provoking response. There is nothing really wrong with it. Hell, I do it.

    I like provoking ZRB.

All other claims of trolls are directed at multiple UIDs who jump from one UID to another to cause trouble. Those claims have a purpose.

my friend and i were going to get food cause our school was closed until the power came back on. all of the traffic lights were out so it was like a four way stop, and this minivan came right through and hit us on the side. it totaled my friends truck. when the cops came the moron in the minivan swore he had a green light even though the power had been out for 4 hours and remained out for another 4. i guess it was because we were 16 and the guy in the minivan was much older but the cop blamed it on both cars.

Once when I was at RaceTrack a girl (with her mother) waiting for a pump saw someone pulling out in the lane next to hers, and backed up about 15 feet into the side of a Mazda. The two girls in the Mazda were stuck behind another car, stopped, saw the truck backing up, and started honking her horn before she was hit. (I looked up when she started honking).

The ladies in the truck were very obnoxious, and blamed the car for pulling in behind them. They both claimed to be looking the whole time, and that the car sped into the parking lot, honking their horn, right before the impact -- the driver saying she didn't have time to stop. The driver and her mother were both horrible people -- the driver saying compared to her new S-10, the 'piece-of-crap' Mazda wasn't worth anything anyway. (They were both brand new cars.)

The police arrived quickly, and trying to be civic minded, I told the officer what I saw. The driver of the truck then told me she didn't think much of me for siding with the girls in the Mazda. She made a point of pointing out that the girls in the Mazda were black, and I wasn't, which didn't please the officer (who was also black). She received several citations.

Four months later I get a call from the city District Attorney's Office. The driver was cited (unsafe backing, causing an accident, or something like that) by the officer, and she was fighting the ticket. The DA said that since I was the only one not involved in the accident listed as a witness, that he probably wouldn't be able to convict the lady unless I showed in court. (He told me I was obligated to go, but that they wouldn't issue a subpoena to force me to testify, so nothing would happen if I didn't.)

Being the civic minded person I was, and since the driver was a jerk, I made arrangements to get off work early, fought traffic into downtown, and paid to park at the courthouse. After 45 minutes the case came up, the clerk called all witnesses forward (resulting in surprised and dirty looks from the lady and her mother. The DA moved to dismiss the charges since the accident occurred on private property, and the judge goes, 'OK' and moves on to the next case.

I'm not sure who was the bigger jerk -- the driver or the DA.

I was on 1960 a few years ago, at a red light, when some drunk SOB in a van hit me from behind. Not enough to do any damage, but as soon as he hits me, the light turns green and the guy speeds off around me. I followed his sorry ass for about 15 min. while on the good ol' cellphone with the cops, and they ended up pulling him over in an Eckerd's parking lot. He went down for DWI and hit-and-run. I don't know how it all came out. The DA's office called and told me that he was being prosecuted, but that was the last I heard.

Last year, some friends of mine and I were coming back from a club and we stopped at Jack to get some food. We're sitting in the drive through and all of the sudden the car gets jolted. I look in the rear-view, and there's no one there . . . then to the right and it's this dude who looks like a drunk psycho (angry drunk) backing up. So he starts driving away, and we decide to follow him, so we can notify the cops. Anyhow, we followed him for about 10 blocks (he was all over the road), and then pulled over to call.

Anyhow, that is my story -- no damage was done to my car (only a TINY dent that you notice only if you know it's there and the lighting is right), but if I weren't driving a suburban, it may have been a different story.
