    Smart pick-up on van gundys part. Its all about surrounding your star players with hard workers to bring out the best in them. van gundy can yell and scream at them all day long, but what really gets them to play harder is when they see a less talented player out working them and not complaining about it. I think that everyone but eddie is responding realatively well and that this team should start living up to the potential that we all expect that they can and for the first time in a long time im starting to really believe that they have a shot at competting with the big boys.

    It's kind of hard to say Eddie didn't respond. His off the court problems are doing him in. Actually EG was one of those people that was supporting JVG actions about speaking his mind and how the team needed that. Unless that was just for show and media i thought he was getting the idea just his off court problems are weighing him down.

    Can you say, THUG?

    hee hee, this is great. JVG goes out and picks up another Utah thuggie to surround Yao with. Vintage 90s Knicks.

    I know and I agree with you. I have been bummed out all year about us not making a big ploop, but now when I see how management has quietly improved this team, I am getting excited. I don`t think our bloop ploop is big enough to catch up with L.A.`s blop plop but its a good start. Now all we need is to trade Mobes, mOOch, Griffith, tAYLOR, ECT... FOR sHEED OR bRANDN or even Grant.

    I think the signing of Padget is great for the Rockets. He wont demand the ball ...

    This is a good thing since he will spend most of the season at the end of the bench.

    from rockets.com:

    Sounds durable.

    btw- didn't "Chilly Pete" just come from his last name being Chilcut?

    I doubt if the Rockets will feel comfortable with Griffin and Pike as their 2-guard, at least comfortable enough to trade Cat. I don't understand why everytime the Rockets make a transaction people are hoping/praying Cat is traded. Let the team play a month together first.

    No, I think it was much more nuanced than that. For instance, it used his first name (Pete) as well.

    As a Houston sports icon, he should have had a patented rhyming nickname instead. Like Hakeem (the Dream) and Clyde (the Glide). Pete (the Neat) or Pete (Slow Feet) would have really hammered his image home and given him some street cred.

    Wrong.....we had the gun totting Vernon Maxwell! This is perfect, in order to win a championship in Houston you have to have at least 1 thug and one 3-point shooting white guy.

    Maxwell = Griffin
    Bullard = Padgett

    I can already see the lines forming in downtown Houston for another championship parade!! :D

    I would watch what you say about "Mad Max" that dude really was crazy, and still one of my favorite Rockets. Griffin is a wanna be Mad Max...not to mention MM contributed to the team and played like he cared. Max had ballz of steal, he is probably dominating some prison league as we speak.

    Padgett has Bullard potential.:)

    maxwell was awesome. im still confident if we every played the bulls in the finals, max would have shut jordan down enough to enable us to win.
